TA has posted a pic of the pattern they've made for the cover.
http://www.taperformance.com/rearend.htm
It's the one on the left.
They also assigned a part number to it- TA 1802
I'm really feel this is gonna happen now.

I don't quite understand the design they have. It looks like 2 of the bottom bolt holes are positioned on top of supporting structures. Also, is the drain hole way up top? It's centered on the stock piece.

Ide say you fill it through the top hole with the middle open till it seeps out. Then the drain hole is low below the gasket line so you get it all out. It prob sticks out with its own pocket so it doesnt interfere with the gasket surface.

Many of cars have run 12's on 9 bolts consistenly.
The cover will not guarantee your rear from breaking. If yours has a ton of miles on it and is already woller'd out and the pinion has lost preload then no....it won't save you rear from self-destructing due to lack of maintenance.
If your rear is in good working order and and within spec setup wise....then it will offer some added durability (more than a 7.625 10 bolt).
Remember tho....slicks, high stall converters, or grabby clutches are hard on ANY rearend.
And your next best alternative is about 2000.00 away!
I'd go with the cover, the stud kit for the bearing caps, an overhaul with new timken bearings, and replacing the crush sleeve with a solid pinion spacer. You should be able to run 12's all day for years to come. Or until your driveshaft took a dump!

I believe that Baer makes a kit to fit them. I dont remember for sure, but I am pretty sure because I think i remember people talking about them having a backing plate to fit the 9 bolt.

9 Bolt

If I'm wrong here someone correct me, but as I understand it all outside parts or mods that would fit a 10 bolt would fit a 9bolt. The Panhard Bar upgrades and draglink bar upgrades along with any modified brake kit upgrades. The real differences are on the inside of the 9bolt (Well except for the 9bolt cover that's outside on the back there). Cocacolakid

All of the suspension is the same, but the backing plates for the brakes are different and the 9 bolt axles bolt in instead of being held in by a c clip.

Thank you for the correction on mods for the 9 bolt. So how hard would it be to modify the backing plates? Besides it's the front brakes that need the most upgrades, as they are the real stoppers.

Cocacolakidd...

I hope I'm not changing the subject here but I've been going over the lowering of my 3rd. Gen Camaro. I have found relocation brackets for the lower control arms adjustment when lowered. The question is; wouldn't it be easier or just as easy to shorten the lower control arm that fractional difference to adjust for the difference in geometry of the axle angle when the body is lowered?

One kit is in the below link, scroll down to the very bottom of the linked page:-
52-130202X Baer Claw Systems, Rear 84-92 F-body. (Touring) PBR Single Piston, 12" x .81" Rotors, All Necessary Hardware.
Click on the rear axle type and select OEM 9-bolt with disc.

Most every 9-bolt from 1989-90 had the PBR rear discs, basically what Baer sells in a kit for $800.00!!! The only difference are the braided-steel lines in the kit (available from Earl's) and the available rotor upgrades (available separately).

The rotors are the same size. I bought crossdrilled rotors from stillen and they fit perfectly.

The Rotors that are from Bare are Zinc coated, cross drilled and ball milled slotted, 12"X.81" and run $295.00 for the pair.

What is the URL for Stillen???

EBC makes good rotors (and pads) also.
Baer Eradispeeds are good but overpriced for "eye candy".
The 89 up J65 PBR calipers are the same as baer.
If you have the 89 up PBR aluminum caliper setup already, upgrading to 12" vette rotors on the back won't give you any worthwile gains...as stated before the gains come in the front brakes. Unless you just want to lighten your wallet.

I'm going with the EBC rotors and their green stuff pads, and 5pc set of goodridge brake lines.
Earl's and Russel make them also for less $$$.

I'm sure stillens are good, as well as brembo rotors.
