cam and top end

I'm starting on my 383 the bottom end has the 5.7 rods with sealed power flat top pistons, 3.75 crank. I've been looking at cam and top end options. This is my first engine starting from scratch so let me know what you think of this set up and any changes you might make. I'm looking at 400-550 hp and torq. range

Dart Iron eagle 200cc heads 64cc combustion chamber
1.6 Harland Sharp rockers
Lunati voodoo cam 241/249@.050, lift .525/.546 flat tappet cam
Holley 750 carb.

And I'm looking at mult. intake manifolds not sure which to go with. Advice is appreciated.

Re: cam and top end

that's a big HP difference between 400 and 550....heh. I'd go solid roller cam if you really want to make some power. You can go to the 215cc heads if you plan on spinning this motor up as well. Is this track only, some street? etc etc. I don't have a problem driving a 3600 stall and a 4.11 gear, which is mild compared to some buddies who have 5500 stalls and 4.56 gears in their cars. It's all up to how radical you want it to be. The new dart platinum heads are a good choice and flow better than the older ones as well.

Re: cam and top end

It's gonna be a street/strip car. I'm not trying to make insane amounts of power, but I don't want to settle for less than 400 hp or 400 lbs. torq.

Re: cam and top end

i have afr 210 competition cnc ported heads and that same cam in my 385 which is 10.8:1 CR.. cam should work well with nitrous, i hope to have 450 at the wheels + spray. i would have went solid roller, but this is just to hold me over till i get my motown blocked 427 built and that is a good chunk of change. Cant wait to get it all put in the car! Good luck with you're build!

Re: cam and top end

the AFRs with cnc also outflow the darts, but they're more money as well.
