Headlights
I found some headlights, turn signal lights, side marker lights to put on my camaro. I'm still debating on whether to buy them or not. MY headlights now are dangerously bad and my turn signal lights are dulled. My high beams don't work either. Both the low-beam lights have water damage which is probably why their bad, so do the turn signal lights. If anyone has a "cheaper or better for the same price" headlights and turn signal lights please let me know where to get them. I don't need the side marker lights because mine work fine as of now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-...Q5fAccessories
Im sure these will fit but would i need to buy anything else to make them work? Different connectors, wires, anything?
Please read the information on the kit, it's somewhat confusing to me, and let me know if they are leaving anything out that i need for these to work.

Re: Headlights
I bought a set(4) of silverstars made by sylvania. These things are amazing. I couldn't believe how much brighter they were than the regular lights. I can post a pic of them later today if you want to see them. As far as turn signals, I like those smoked turn signals, I wonder if I could get a pair of those?? Well I am gonna ask the seller (:

Re: Headlights
Get ya some VHT Nightshades & smoke your stock lenses.....Much cheaper & you can decide just how lightly tinted or dark you want them. And since the DOT letting is still on the lenses, you can claim that they are legal.

Re: Headlights
You can use it on any lens (i'd question putting it on halogen lamp because of the heat) and choose just how dark (or light) that YOU want YOUR lenses to be. Got me in trouble with mt black tail lights on my black Tahoe, 2 days in a row, by 2 cops. Light application of thinner & a good dose of plastic polish brought the red back real nice.

Wow those turn signal lights are beautiful! But 85 bucks? Thats a little outrageous. I'll look into the silverstars. Personally i think smoked headlights don't look good on a red camaro. I'll have to keep looking for turn signal lights, hopefully ones that aren't as bad as mine. During the day you can't even tell that their on. Same with my rear lights. Brake, turn, reverse are all pretty dull during the day. I guess their just bad bulbs right?

I'm looking for headlights that wouldn't require me to change anything with the headlight harness or something like that. Just buy, pop in, turn on. No conversions.

They are sealed beam, correct? And i heard that during rain, fog, or other natural doings, the lights are horrible.

wrong about the sylvaina silverstars . they are plug & play , good light , most likely the best off the shelf headlights for our cars . good luck .

Ok. I'm on the Sylvania website right now and they only have the Silverstar bulb. But it's sealed bulb? It would have to come with the headlight and bulb inside.

I had already searched those part numbers and it came up with bulbs

Re: Headlights
I just stopped by Advance Discount Auto Parts today and they will not be getting any more SilverStar headlights in stock. The guy i talked to that works there said he has them on all his cars and there is a huge difference from standard halogen headlights. I'm definitely getting them from what i've heard/seen!
Nice pics! I'll post some when i get mine put in.

Re: Headlights
What about the Sylvania Cool Blue high performance halogen headlights? Has anyone used those? They're even cheaper then the SilverStars but they say their just as good. H4656CB, same number as SilverStar low beam, just with Cool Blue color i guess?
EDIT: http://assets.sylvania.com/assets/im...31053c9567.jpg
I don't see much of a difference in Cool Blue from SilverStar. But since i'm on a very low budget, i'll probably have to go with Cool Blue, unfortunately.

Re: Headlights
the cool blues are definitely a step up from the OE lighting. They are a step down brightness wise from the silverstars, but (at least with the composite bulbs) seem to last a little longer. I had used them with good luck on my RS

Re: Headlights
As long as they're brighter then standard halogen.
But now another few lights are out on my car. Farthest right brake light, the one on the corner, and my spoiler brake light. I can get pulled over if the spoiler light doesn't work cause apparently if a brake light is able to work, it must work. I took the spoiler brake light out and couldn't find where the bulb was hiding. I took my subwoofers out and tried to take the trunk panel off to get to the right brake lights, I unscrewed the big plastic screws, but unfortunately the panel was glued or something. Maybe i'm not doing it right but whats the best way to get to my brake light and other lights back there, without taking my bumper off? I also have a brand new left side rear light cluster to replace.

Re: Headlights
should be 5 plastic screws to get the lamp assembly off. Some of them are on pretty tight and hard to get to. Took me awhile to get mine all found and off.
I am wondering what the difference between the years are for these lights. They all say 85-92. Why wont these work for 82-84 camaros? if there is a difference would it be simple mods need to get them to fit? I am considering changing my orange front turn signals and side markers to clear ones and need to know if i can get any kit or need to find one to fit my 82 camaro

Re: Headlights
There are Five of those big plastic nuts on each tail light assembly. One is up high way in the corner on both sides. You have to completely remove the rear plastic panel and usually the tire cover panel as well. The driver side corner one I think I recall having to go through the glove box thingie and reach up behind it. Sometimes they get forced in and tapping on the mounting studs to force them back out is helpful. They will come out. No excess amount of force is needed or recommended. Have fun

Re: Headlights
I too have silverstars. Look bone stock from the outside, and truthfully the light would also probably get taken for stock too, its just like the halogens but a little truer white. Quite nice for a simple and cheap upgrade, and you'd never know it was a modification even with them on unless you were told they were aftermarket headlights.

Re: Headlights
I just ordered H4656 CoolBlue headlights from Amazon for only 30 bucks for a pair. I looked around but couldn't find a new bulb for the spoiler brake light. But I still have yet to figure out how to replace the bulb since i can't find the old bulb to begin with. I'm hoping the CoolBlue headlights are close to the brightness of the Silverstars.

Re: Headlights
Driver side is Silverstar fog light. Passenger side is stock. Notice how the garage floor lights up better on the driver's side?
Same setup as the above, but with Silverstar headlights as well.
The camera won't capture the difference from yellow (stock) to white (Silverstar) because it will blend the colours when taking a picture. But in real life, the difference was highly noticeable. You can see there is less intensity coming off the passenger fog light in the 2nd picture though.

They're a drop in replacement. Same as stock physically.
Interesting write up you have there. I can't imagine how difficult it must be getting that shield through the hole.
I had a heck of a time replacing the fog lights in my car. The opening isn't flat along the bottom when I went to replace the fog light bulb. It's like an arc. This means you need one hand to hold the arc down, another to put the bulb in, another to hold the mounting plates on the side and another to screw it in......I only have two hands.

The extra light output was very much worth the effort of doing that mod & I dunno why GM ever put that thing in there. I don't get headlights flashed at me or get pulled over, so obviously nobody is ever "annoyed" by the extra light I get.

If someone has CoolBlue headlights I would appreciate a picture of those with a comparison to stock.
I just went out to buy a Multimeter. How should i go about checking my high beams to see if theirs power running through them?

Re: Headlights
Just put my CoolBlue headlights in and wow what a major difference!!! I also put my new fog light on and now all i need to do is align the left (driver side) headlight because it's off by a lot. Unfortunately when I was trying to align it i stripped the screw so now I have to either live with it or find a way to use the stripped screw. I don't think I can find another screw like that one. Then i'll change my rear cluster lights out with new bright bulbs and hopefully I will be able to see the rear lights better during the day.
Still workin on getting my high beams to work. Still don't how to use the Multimeter to check the voltages of the highbeams. No one seems to know how.

Re: Headlights
Didnt the meter come with instructions? You want set the meter on DC voltage.Connect the red & blk leads to your hi beam connector blk/blk & red/green wire. You should see roughly 12volts when the hi beams are activated.
Your problem could also be on the switch itself on the column. Its hard to tell from the internet. So you'll have to do some investigating.
