VHT Epoxy Paint - possible alternative to Rustoleum

I apparently forgot to order my lower control arm relocation brackets from Spohn with a black finish. They came in today bare metal. I checked my order, sure enough, my goof. No biggie though.

I head to the local parts store and was about to make a purchase of some Rustoleum bare metal primer and black finish when I saw this stuff on the shelf. It's made by VHT and is a black epoxy paint. Sorry the picture is sideways.

It says it is a self priming paint made for bare metals, plastic, and fiberglass. I wiped down the brackets real good as they were kind of dusty from being in a cardboard box with newspaper shreddings. No prep work required beyond that. This is after two coats. I'm kind of excites about this because I think it will work as a great inexpensive alternative to getting my strut tower brace powdercoated.

I'll be sure to post up some more feedback after they've been installed for a few months and see how it holds up. But since it's am epoxy paint I'm not really concerned that it will flake easily.

Re: VHT Epoxy Paint - possible alternative to Rustoleum

i used this stuff on a few things recently, mainly suspension stuff since i ran out of por15 and don't want to go through the hassle of ordering more. seems to be decent stuff and supposedly can take a bit of a beating; perfect for sway bars and chassis bits that have to deal with whatever the road kicks up.

granted, my car hasn't moved yet, so durability is still to be determined....

I'll have to give this a try gonna spray my control arms and swsay bars before I put them on, and was debating what to use, and generally hear good things about vht. What parts store you pick it up from?

Same stuff as the vht caliper paint made to adhere to bare calipers. Its good, and has a nice hard finish gloss. It doesnt hold its gloss for a long time, but does remain strong and resists pealing. It will chip when hit with a hard object, rocks, hammers, screw drivers ect. I had it on my calipers for over a year now with no ill results other than loosing some gloss over time.

Depending on how it is applied it has a strong orange peel.

Re: VHT Epoxy Paint - possible alternative to Rustoleum

good stuff. a few coats and its good. We shall see in a bit cause I painted almost all my suspension parts with it and undercoated the whole engine bay and underside with another epoxy paint product to seal it up from anything else. I think its good stuff so far.
