Replacement wrap around spoiler 1982-1992 trans am's
I have seen some links though searches about the fiberglass replacement spoilers for 1982-1992 trans am's. I have found the Hawks version everywhere and from a price of $399 + shipping to $529. Are there any other companies that offer a spoiler for these cars. I have read good and bad reviews for the one from Hawk but wanted to see if there are any other options or companies that make them?
I can fit fiberglass but dont want to break the budgets dropping that much on a spoiler I'm going to have to modify and some cases i have heard cut in half and widen it to fit correctly is a bit much for that much money.
Thanks in advance for any information.

I am trying to keep the stock look of the spoiler that is on the car now. I have found 100's of the type they are putting on those rice burners but that's not my style.

I tried the one from Classic Industries and it was off by almost an inch of width. Sent that one back and replaced it with the one from Hawks and it fit with no issues at all.

The one from classic industries, was it the rubber replacement or fiberglass? The only OEM spoilers i can find are used and in as bad of shape as the one i have.

Is that one off a Gen 4 car or a fiberglass replacement. I searched them as well and they are just as expensive as the gen3's.

There are limited options for stock-appearing spoilers, so the price is going to be higher compared to the "one size fits none" tuner crap. About the only affordable, yet tasteful option that I really see is to find a stock spoiler off a 91-92 car. Those were fiberglass instead of that foam crap that they used from 82-90, and they look great on the earlier cars.

I was not aware that the 91-92 cars were fiberglass. That will help the search. I appreciate the information. The rubber ones are (as we all know) junk. I have two of them. I have bounced the idea about making a mold from one that i have and make my own new replacement. I just don't have that kind of time anymore.

Thanks Ted. I am looking for options. How much work did it take to fit it to your car? Are the side clips the same? How about the harness for the 3rd break light and mounting holes?
I have found one off a 1994 Im waiting to hear back from them.

A lot of fit and re-fit, but I'm finicky.
My thread, you can start at post #42:https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...ody-paint.html
Helped another in this thread starting post #43: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...n-wing-my.html
These two threads should let you know what's involved. No clips are needed as the "wings" are fiberglass and very strong. I did everything BUT fiberglassing the legs in after I had everything fitted- my body guy did that as I was painting the car too. Fiberglass is not difficult and very forgiving - easy to sand down or re-glass just match the contours of what's there already. You could do everything I did and then take the wing in to body shop that does fiberglass, and it would be a small job for them. Use the stuff with the "hairs" in it.
If/when you get the wing, start a thread in the body section.

I bought one of the HAWKS wings and had an issue with it but Bruce worked with me and the second one was perfect. im glad I replaced mine with the glass version of the orig. I used screws to attach to the orig clips on the glass and fits like a champ.
no messing with retro fitting another wing (TEDSgrads DOES look good tho) and it retains the stock look. im glad I did, one and done, IMO its worth the money.

I dont have much input on which one to buy... but I did make a thread when I installed my fiberglass repop.
I found it in someones garage when I was buying some other used parts. Must have gotten lucky, because it fit great and was in awesome shape. Im PRETTY sure its a Hawks piece, but cant be positive.
I wasnt happy with the little clips they give you for securing the front, so I used the factory metal clips on the back glass and got it to work, like others have.

My hatch goes up SO much easier. The weight difference is pretty substantial. And now I can finish it however I want, and not worry about cracks. I kept it black, because the factory one on my 86 was black textured. Ill probably do body color at some point.

Suspension is totally adjustable: weight jacks in front, coil-overs in rear; can stiffen the struts or shocks; and can do pad changes with just a cross bolt.
You must be close by. Car is going into storage, soon. Will be at Midwest F-body track event at Road America late April/early May next year. Here's my suspension build: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...g-vetruck.html
