Engine: 305 to 350 transplant
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: standard
obd 1

Hey, guys. I have an obd II code reader. Has anyone used the adapter I've seen on ebay to hook up to obd 1? My cen-tech instrument doesn't list
an adapter and I'm not sure the ones on ebay will work with all readers. I don't want to damage my reader. Any input?

umm you should include a link to the adapter and a link to the scanner you are using. I don't think those cheap scan tool are backwards compatable.

that was my instinct on it. Thanks UC. I'll just use the old "short pin 1 to pin 8" and count the flashes.

i don't know if this helps but my actron scanner works on my car using the extra cost actron osb1 adapter.

Followup on my "check engine" light problem. I used the "pin A to pin B" (not pin 1 to pin 8) jumper and found a code on my coolant temp sensor to ECM. Turned out to be a loose connection. Thanks again for the input.
