Help with DataMaster/ WinALDL

Alright, so i downloaded DataMaster and the winALDL program and also bought a OBDI 12 pin connector of the ALDL website.
My problem is that i cannot retrieve any data what so ever. All i want to do is simply read codes. The previous owner had REMOVED the service eng light and i recently just noticed that. I just want to see what its throwing out.
Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Re: Help with DataMaster/ WinALDL

1) fix your existing check engine light period, its part of the circuit you need to read codes.

2) you will have to find which port is active in your computer to set your port to.

3)Datamaster never liked any adapters other than their own(back in the day)

Your better off going TunerPro or TunerPro RT now.

Re: Help with DataMaster/ WinALDL

I did put in a bulb when i noticed it was missing. I read the codes the old way (counting the SES flashes) and figured out its throwing out a code 13, and 34.
Sorry if i'm sounding stupid, but how would i check to see which port is active? Any info is appreciated. Im almost ready to give up on these datalogging programs. I just seem to get them to work. Someone mentioned to me i would need to build a resistor between the A & B terminals in the connector.
Thanks for the reply!

Re: Help with DataMaster/ WinALDL

If you haven't put a 10k ohm resister between a to b on the aldl the eco will not start data flow without this being done. DONT DRIVE IN 10K MODE ! Predestination will occur !
The 165 is a picky animal, some are reliable for connecting and staying connected.

Re: Help with DataMaster/ WinALDL

On the back side of the aldl push a resister into a and b. you can get a 10k resister at radio shack ,ebay and the watts douesnt matter.

Re: Help with DataMaster/ WinALDL

I just noticed you have the aldl.com 12 pin cable. It should of came with a jumper. There are directions on there site on where to place the jumper to get the aldl in 10k mode.
