This is such a controversial topic i have the stock calipers and rotors on a 1985 T/A now what is the preferred pad material, cermaic, or semi-metallic?

Re: Brake pads material?

Depends on what is important to you. Maximum stopping power, longest lasting pads, longer rotor life, quieter operation, or less brake dust. etc

Here's a set of pads for you.
Link = http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/pads...maro-firebird/

The pads listed above are Hawks own blend of materials.

This link provides information on the material there made of. =

If your just going to by local then I would say a semi-metallic pad is going to provide the best stopping power.

Replacing the old components with new made a difference for me.

Re: Brake pads material?

I'm huge fan of the local parts store semi-metallic. Good performance, low dust. Now I don't race, so maybe the slightest little advantage is helpful, but with 12.75" fronts...I have no issues whatsoever.

...and just to avoid any potential confusion, Ron's post above show's Hawk's Performance pads being sold by Hawk's Motorsports. Two different companies, same great bird.

Re: Brake pads material?

Thanks for the heads up on those links.
That could be confusing.

Buying from the manufacture always nice but supplying a link to Hawks Motorsports is just a habit. Great company.
