Anyone with a 4 post life at home
Hey guys, just wondering about 4 post hoists that people have at home. I was kinda looking and calling around and see many choices. For me, the one big thing is the wheels to be able to move it around for space reasons. I talked to a local company and told them my list of wants in a lift, he said they would never ever sell lifts with castors, only stationary ones. He talked about them warping a bit and screwing up the alignment then when trying to lift or lower, creating a need for many repairs and saftey concerns.
I was curious how many people here have 4 posts they move around occasionally and if you've ever had problems in the time you have owned it.
Thanks lads!!

I have an advantage lift www.advantagelifts.us and have been pretty impressed overall. The lift comes with castors. the decks attach to the uprights with a full collar that completely surrounds the post. this allows it to self align on the way up and down.Runs on 120v. Only real complaint is that it is a little slow going up due to the 120v. Overall very nice well built lift.

Thank you! I was told about them misaligning due to not being bolted to the ground. I thought "why would they sell castor kits then??"

That's my build thread but check out post #30. Some pics of my 4-post there.
Post #105 has pics of the 2 post I have that replaced my 4-post. I HIGHLY recommend a 2-post!

Well that more than proves it can be moved around and still work just fine. Lol, from garage to driveway. In a post, a would have to go with a 4 post, because of the issue of room. Being able to move the post for space when needed is a huge factor.

Re: Anyone with a 4 post life at home
There were 4 beams overhead evenly spaced. The outer 2 were fine, but the center 2 killed my lift height. So I moved the 2 inner beams right next to the 2 outer ones and braced with extra screws. Worked very well.

Not a 4 post, I prefer a 2 post since it makes things like dropping a rear end, or lifting the car off the k-member and front suspension work easier.
There is this one, lifts a decent height, and you can unbolt it from the floor and roll it out of the way, uses 110 to power it.
If I had the ceiling height and thicker concrete I would put one of these in.

4 posts do have rolling center jacks that can lift the car while you remove suspension engine. Curios how well those work for those of us who don't trust the stability of our concrete

Not worth it at all. They're expensive and a $25 bottle jack does the same thing.

Those Jacks are handy, I have used them on a 4 post for big suspension work and they work but its still not as roomy as a 2 post.

Agreed, but I still say a bottle jack or 2 is wayyyy less than $800!

Re: Anyone with a 4 post life at home
I use two tall jack stands (Harbor Freight ~ $90) with my 4-post to get the weight off the wheels. Works great. I have moved the lift four times using the included castors with no problems. Metal building with 14' ceilings.
