I ordered a fiberglass Ram Air II hood for my Firebird from them. WHAT A DISASTER. It took forever to get it. It looked like an idiot made the mold. It was paper thin and weak. There were low spots and cracks. It was badly far from finished and ready to paint. It isn't even functional like ASCD's hoods. But it doues look BAD A**.

I had a similar experience with ascd when I had my 97 Z28. I got in a wreck and their hood was cheaper than the factory hood so I got it and some cash back. However it took them two months to get me my hood. It was poorly finished and the body shop didnt even bother with it the painted it and said here you go.......lol what a joke. It was ascd's big block hood that I ordered for the 97. I was very interested in ordering the raim air II hood but I may think twice now.

I have an 86 T/A and was going to get the Ram Air II also. Does anyone have ASCD's address or phone number. Are these real good, quality hoods. Has anyone got one of these? want to know about fit, finish, price and how hard are they to install? Also can you use your existing hardware? thanks a million...

ASCD's website is www.americansportscar.com - my hood's fit is decent, and my body shop said that the hood was one of the better fiberglass hoods that they've seen.
But, you should know that their customer service isn't the best. It took them a month longer than they said. It turns out that they were on backorder, when they originally told me that it was in stock. Then, they proceeded to blame me for not calling or e-mailing them, when I did!!

Sorry about the length - just venting a bit

Thanks Black Bird, sorry to hear about the hassle you had. Are you pleased with the hood and how it looks? what was the price? and do you have a picture of your car?....

War_Eagle,
The hood itself was in good condition. There is only one low spot on the passenger side, which is only noticeable when right on top of it. I have pics, but can't post them - busted scanner.

For those who want to order an ASCD hood, I'd suggest you get a clear delivery date, then raise some Hell if it's not on time.

man These people make me happy that I can make my own Fiberglass parts...Usually I surf around to get some basic ideas and I loved the ram air II. I am going to redesign it so it has air evacuators to get hot air out of the engine bay though. Gonna form them about 18 inches behind the scoops. Just have the top "fall" out and have the sides slowly form down..I'll post pics when done...Might even make it outta carbon fiber...
