And yet they aren't willing to come off their price points.

Probably because they paid too much initially.

Re: TPIS Minirams are finally selling (cheap?) on ebay

In another year or so these things will be $500 or less.

They are a bitch to tune. Plenum is too small, fuel distribution sucks, and the 1205 version doesn't have enough casting to cover 1206 heads.

Re: TPIS Minirams are finally selling (cheap?) on ebay

The Holley Stealth ram or a single plane are probably still the ideal setup for our rides?

Singleplane with the right size plenum (6" plus intake), and a good 4bbl or a high flow elbow.

The HSR is a compromise. You get a good plenum, but tight angles on the airflow. I have an HSR on my turbo car but I figure whatever loss I get due to the intake I can make up with boost.

The Miniram is impossible to tune. You always get lean or rich cyls. People don't realize that the LT1 had a sequential ECM with a per-cylinder fuel trim. You can't do that with an 80's delco ECM.

How about tuning with something like a Bigstuff 3?

Re: TPIS Minirams are finally selling (cheap?) on ebay

The TPIS Mini Ram has fuel reversion problems. It sucks fuel up into the back of the plenum. So your rear cylinders will always run rich.and there's nothing you can do about it no matter how much tuning you do.Plus you trade a boat load of torque for horsepower.

Interesting post- I had always wondered why I didn't see as many of the TPIS units as I saw HSRs, but hadn't heard anyone talk about the challenges to tuning them.

I wonder if the 24x system would be a viable solution to address that.

Can you do a per cylinder injector trim?

The only stock stuff I have experience with is the older DELCO (thirdgen, C4) and LT1 stuff. I've not touched any of the LSx stuff. And all I use is aftermarket now.

Cylinder injector trim is still a band aid for a defective manifold design.

I think it's more so the price the the mini ram was sold at vs the price of the stealth ram or single plane. Lower price units usually prevail.

Intake needs to be welded, milled, and re-ported.

and after the welding and milling and price paid for this intake you could have bought one in decent shape.
