BNIB Super Ram

Hey gents, recently I pulled some old parts from my storage and forgot I had this new Super Ram setup. Would this be something someone would still be interested in? I mean it is a discontinued part and when I bought it I also bought an edelbrock 3860 lower with it that's also still sealed. I figure maybe I can throw it on my car but I get annoyed at the maintenance the super ram entails at times. I had another camaro in which I also ran a super ram. What do you guys think?

Re: BNIB Super Ram

I'm pretty sure I would regret selling it but I also would like to see it put to good use. The older I get the harder it is for me to mess with something that is perfectly fine and unmolested (my iroc is) as it came from day one. I'm also deployed so the anticipation to get behind the wheel and enjoy the ride sooner than soon when I return is definitely swaying my decision as well. Decisions, decisions!!

I am still seeking a 3860 base. I know you were up-in-the-air about separating, but if so, let me know.

I moved this out of my forum to this forum earlier as it was turning into a for-sale thread (with a "how much do you want" question).

So with that said, the OP can either list a price or the forum mod can lock the thread if it's not for sale.

The OP was trying to ask if he should sell it, what it's worth, etc.

I think he got part of his answer. It's worth what someone would pay, which for me is $100 but might be $1000 on Corvette forum. (since those waxers love super rams).

Probably popular with the California boys too since they can't run anything else.

I'm well aware of what forum rules dictate for the classified section, however I did originally post this in the alternative EFI section. My best guess would be a forum moderator moved it to this section.

Re: BNIB Super Ram

Used SuperRams in good shape can go 700-1000. NIB will add a chunk of value to that. 50% even

Saw the same base sell (not listed, actually sold) for $497 new a few days back on eBay.

So with that, if I were the seller, I'd be starting off near 2 grand for the package.

That's just me, but hopefully helps put perspective on value.

Tanner got your pm ,thanks for finally stepping up and being a man and actually admitting you found another one but you still probably screwed yourself .sitting on the bench right below the superram are 2 / 3860 bases colecting dust that I've picked up along the way ,and an original accel ported lingenfelter base that was on my old 89 . All you had to do was ask but time you found what you thought was your better deal you started side stepping and trying to figure a way to back out of a deal any way good luck with setup ,and finally one more jab if i were to sale that complete super ram set up i had up for fifty bucksi would still make a profit on it

Apologies for the OP for 88Z coming in this thread and trying to make a point.

Sorry 88Z, but I did not need a vortec base, and let you know as soon as that it would not work with my CA setup (would need to use external EGR provisions and play the 'i swapped my engine with a vette' game with the smog tech). You had stated clearly, many times, you were not separating the piece, so I posted I had no further interest in it, and it was open to anyone that needed it. I sent you a PM when I made that post, and apologized for any time wasted.

I would have no way to know you were a one stop parts shop, nor was I going to ask you to separate the piece when you stated you didn't want to. It was only after the fact you came back with wanting to do so, but I had made other arrangements at that time.

It's a desirable intake that will have no problem selling. Sorry if me directly PMing you, as well as replying to your thread, was not enough; no idea why you had to come post in someone elses threads to continue the conversation. I did get a brand new Accel base for a very reasonable price on Corvetteforum, though.

What a stupid amount of money for an intake, wonder what my complete mcfarland setup or my pristine and complete t ram is worth. Anyone want a McFarland short ram, 1 of about 5 for 10k?

It's sadly dictated by the fact it's the only California legal aftermarket TPI intake (on the Exemption Order list), and that they haven't been in production for quite a bit.

Can always port a stock intake/runners/base though.

For non CA cars there are other, maybe better, options.

Two grand gets you a decent ls motor with a better manifold stock and a swap kit. Times change, I wish I could get a fraction of what I payed for some of my stuff. Now it just collects dust.

Not that I don't disagree, the complications that arise with that in California specifically make it a chore, but not impossible. Some people also like doing time-period correct mods to their car (like me).

Re: BNIB Super Ram

So here goes my number... I'd like to get 1400$ for the plenum and runners and 400$ for the lower manifold. Now with that being said, yes I know it sounds like a ridiculous amount to ask for a stupid super ram, but when is the last time you saw one still confined to its shipping box? Furthermore, I'm in no way pressed to sell it thankfully and when I get home from the Middle East I may just crack that freakin box open chug a few American beers and commence the tear down to install it on my camaro. So there it is, I'm also open to offers. Thank you!

Re: BNIB Super Ram

Since it is brand new never used you have all the bolts and gaskets for the plenum and runners correct? If so, I'd give a thousand plus shipping if you don't sell in the next 2 weeks. I don't really NEED it, but I wouldn't mind having it just to see how it would compare to the SLP runners and ported plenum on my stock L98. Already have an Accel base on

Re: BNIB Super Ram

You sell it for what you can get for it. $1400 is almost double what it cost new. In the $800-$1200 range is about what you will get, new in box is nice but where was it stored? It could be oxidized sitting all that time. I would open the box at least to take a look and see if even the gaskets are intact. It has its place though. Its emmisions legal and can work well with a 1205 gasket. That said good luck with the sale.

It's a beautiful intake, I'll admit. I always wanted one. I cant justify paying more than a debate-ably better Stealth Ram though (391$). That's top and bottom & That doesn't have like 9 gaskets to leak.

they are a good intake...done and over by 5500rpm. no amount of cam or porting will help.
per Lingenfelter...who did my car back in 1992.
this is what my stage 5 383 from LPE looked like after sitting for 10 years locked away.. w/fogger NOS.. got it to go 5800rpm with nos. but stopped pulling...even with a mech roller and springs good for 6300rpm..they are good for bottom end and mid range..but top out at the 59/6000 rpm..

Re: BNIB Super Ram

At this point I would appreciate it if a moderator can delete this post, I've gotten a few nasty messages from immature folks on here saying I'm crazy for what I'm asking,I never said I was dead set on my price nor have I (in my opinion) insulted anyone on this post for making offers that were way below what I asked. Truly disappointing but nonetheless expected.

You would have to PM agent13.

I'd stick with it though. You can ask whatever you want, it's up to the buyer to decide if it's worth it.

Re: BNIB Super Ram

My offer was 100% legitimate. And last I read there was no posted price as this was a moved thread from another forum. So I lowballed nobody. I offered a price I think is reasonable, not driven by rarity or unnecessary inflation.

In my line of work attention to detail can mean life or death. You posted your offer on reply #29 after I posted what I wanted for it on reply #22, either way thank you for your offer but I respectfully decline selling my parts to you.

Re: BNIB Super Ram

This thread is hilarious. People getting mad that the guy is living in the past thinking 15 year old parts are worth what he paid when he bought them.

I paid $3000 for my Accel DFI still NIB. Any takers? I want $3918 (inflation adjustment). LOL J/K.

In my line of work attention to detail can get you sued but nobodies going to kill me over an Internet sales pitch. Also in my line of work nobody gives a **** about Internet threads full of bs to sift through and they stop reading after a while. Once more in my line of work we don't overcharge for good or services.
In my line of work we respond to offers instead of asking people to stop commenting instead of simply unsubscribing to the thread and not coming back.

Re: BNIB Super Ram

You know, this thread was started as a "what's it worth?" "what would you ask?" post and it quickly evolved into bashing when moved to the for sale section. I won't be another keyboard warrior like some or get bent out of shape for people thinking i'm out of my mind for what I'm asking. We all have our right to our opinions, it would be funny to see however what some would want for this setup if it were in their possession. Anyhow, all I really give a **** about right now is making it home from overseas and enjoying my camaros and freedom.

Re: BNIB Super Ram

Its worth what somwone wants to pay. On this site after selling parts for many years I can tell you there are alot of tire kickers. 90% of the people that respond to adds want something for nothing and like to quote simaler things they see on simaler parts and expect to get it cheaper than that. To be honest a brand new in the box really doesnt add to the price. Being new does. These were around $730 new ( the tops) and about $350 for the base. I bought one new in 98 or 99. They are still selling around there now. They are one of the best looking intakes imo and hold there value. New in box top I would say around 7-900 for the top and 3-400 for base. If it was me I would just keep it. You are going to get chewed down on this site on price. Dont get me wrong Ive delt with great buyers here. Agree on a price and we work out a deal. Not price is posted and first question is ( whats the lowest you will go?) Dont be turned off on this site by this. It more common than you think. I have been selling here since I got my car in 96. It has just gotton worse imo over the years.
