2 of those rims arent even still on the car, those are the 15" irocs, put the rear 2 16's on already, and have to take the fronts off the car they're still on, and they may not stay on the car even, maybe in a day or so i'll post some of the 90-92 dash conversion i'll be working on for it and of the ground effects etc...

I thought all paint shops put plastic baggies on the wheels. I guess I will have to put my 15s back on when I get my car painted. I would hate to get overspray on my somewhat new GTA rims.

Usually they do, had another friend spray it, who does paint @ a local gm dealer, using anothers booth, we didnt care about the rims, so we didnt bother.

That rim was made in a 15 in. size, my brother also had them on his 89 Iroc.

yes they DO exist. my GM resto packet says so. they were available beginning 1988 and went to, i believe, 1990...they were the BASE IROC wheel...not very popular, but not a figment of someone's imagination...

nice vert, but PLEASE paint the headlight pockets black! they look so much better like that IMHO...

16" wheels became an option on IROCs starting in 88. In 88 the standard wheel was a 15" wheel, just like what the Z28s had used previously. In 89 and 90, the "mini IROC" wheel like what's in the pic above was standard.

Yea i knew about the change in 88 about the standard rims becoming those that were available on the RS and the optional 16" rims in 88, but had absolutely no idea there was a mini 15" version available, thats pretty cool. Thanks for clearing that up guys, and Z28***** sorry for semi-hijacking your thread!

The pockets probably wont be painted black, its going to have a black top, the 16" double slot iroc's may stay on it, the interior will probably be black leather, with a 90-92 style dash, 145 mph cluster, and some stereo, still sorting out the under-hood plans.

I am doing something similar. I have already removed my entire interior (except for the dash) and plan on getting it sprayed ASAP, but trying to find a place to do it inexpensively. Most places I have talked to want the same price it seems even after I have ripped everything out. Called them before started taking it apart and they said starts at $3k, called them a few months later and said everything removed, they said "starts at $3k", that's with me doing all the prep work.

Paint is too d*mn expensive.

good color for that vert by the way.

I've seen 15" IROC wheels in the 88-90 style.

My friend Joe had them on his IROC, but switched to 16" 85-87 IROC wheels.

It's not

I looked at an 88 G92 Iroc in columbus that had the 15" double striped iroc rims on it. I also looked at an 89 Iroc in Indianapolis that had 15" double striped iroc rims. They DO exist even though i wish they didnt.

Hehehehe ok ok... chill out fellas... I gotcha... i have several pics of them in my collection... you guys get nuts! It does suck that they made 15's for irocs... so much for that world class handling. I guess if soem came without posi (haha nik!), some would come without 16's

Looks good. I'm with you on the headlight pockets...I like them better in body color, not black. But please tell me they didn't paint that black vinyl piece on the tonneau cover yellow!

The black vinyl piece was removed and is going to be recovered, the door jams, under trunk lid and tonneau, and inside edges of fenders etc were sprayed prior to the outside.
