What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
From what I've seen on here, 3rd gen dudes (and dudettes, you never know xD), seem to be some of the nuttiest and most creative people for their cars. The platform seems so universally appealing that no 3rd gen is safe from any possible idea. I just wanna see what everyone puts their heart and soul into.
I'll start with mine.
Mine isn't so original, I'm stuffing a 400 CI Pontiac into my bird, about halfway done till it is drivable. I'm just hoping it'll be the little details I put into this is was really brings out a "wow" factor, and being 19, I want to confuse some of the old school muscle car guys around here.
Now your turn....

The only things unique about my iroc is that it has a custom made hood. Not very many made. My iroc also has different center caps on the wheels. Both items were on the car when I bought it. Besides that, everything else is stock.

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
I did a metalic black/clearcoat in the engine bay
A wierd engine swap that 99.99% of car guys have never and will never see
Boost
Chromoly 8pt rollbar
Custom hood also that has never been done (stock 82 plastic hood with a "stingray bigblock" scoop.)
Just being a convertible makes a lot of people ask what kind of car it is. That's always wierd to hear. "That's a uhhh...what is that??"

I honestly don't think anything on my car is wholly unique to itself. Granted, a few things here and there are fairly rare but not much that no one has ever done.

It's a really big deal. A one-off gauge mount
Don't get too hung up on the corrosion and dust....

I guess its not that unique, but the paint is all red with no black trim, and it has z28 rims, and it has a custom flowmaster exhaust

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
I have tried to use some Pontiac Parts to upgrade some items with what the factory could have put on. I have the Wonderbar, 1991 GTA tail lamps, leather gear shift **** (from a Bonneville), Trans Am Black Diamond Spoke wheels and G.P. chrome center caps. It was recently featured in the October issue of HPP magazine to show how you could improve the performance of the L98 motor and suspension of the 1991 Formula by using SLP, Edlebrock, BORLA, Hotchkis, Alston SFC and more. The Formula still looks fairly stock until you look carefully and then notice all the improvements.

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
I never really thought about it but when I go to car meets and also when I took my car to get a shift kit and corvette servos put in or just in general people always say that I'm lucky to have an original 350 tpi motor instead of the 305, when they ask what I have that's what they expect so I guess having the 5.7 makes it unique lol.

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
It looks mean! No doubt! I have thought it would be cool to run a squared set up with 295's. The fronts look like they would be killing the tops of the fenders over any bump, that pushed the wheel/tire up more than 1/2". Sick cars, and unique set up for sure!

He, he....I hear ya. Rolled the fenders to take care of that problem. Thanks for the compliments. You're right, it is unique.

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
This is probably the most unique part of my car, I dont think I've seen anyone else do this but its just a TPI air cleaner connected to a snorkel from another TBI air cleaner with 2 K&N's. I'm planning on getting the ram air boxes that draft air up through the grill.
I also made a custom switch for my cut out but I dont have a picture

Uhhhh...no thank you on that! IMO that's an import thing. I actually might bring in the rear wheels about 1/2"....but other than that, I'm good with the look.

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
It's probably more prevalent in imports because we can tuck huge tires without needing flares. Most imports that turn to flares were previously stuck around 225-245 or they ended up with tires that stuck out of the fenders...

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
I guess the main thing that makes my car unique is that it's the only one like it in the world LOL. Home brewed from the ground up in my garage with prowler orange paint, a turbo 5.3 engine, custom gauges, etc. I like to be different!
Nice tail lights
Car looks great man...I'm LOVING those wheels. Mesh wheels just do it for me, and you don't see them much on 3rd gens which makes them even better!

Re: What makes your 3rd Gen. unique?
My firebird is my hobby so there are many things unique about some are pretty sweet while others are just so random it makes you laugh. for instance currently my carpet is house carpet cut to fit, it does the job but ha ha its definitely out of place. I've been slowly changing the interior from the tan color to a red and black theme all myself and of course with my girlfriend who also likes helping me. I had to do an engine swap from a 2.8L and go big or go home right? so I put in a 5.7 350 crate engine. i thought it was really cheap until when it showed up I noticed it was a bare engine.... so i got to learn alot about engines because I purchased each piece and installed them separately. and as impatient as I am, I decided that the ac system was in the way so i used a sawzall to remove the entire system.
also a weird thing i used all the power steering and alternator and tension pulleys from my old engine and put them on my new one and i had to make some brackets at work to make the sepentine belt to fit. Then, the transmission didnt bolt up so i bought a new one, tci street fighter. But I love it as much as a pan in the butt it has been to final be here.

Nothing really unique but could be called rare. AR-23 American Racing wheels,"black" Iroc-Z door decals, an "88"shortwing on an"89" Iroc-Z with custom Rally Red paint and Crystal red pearl additive.
