July 2015 COTM **Winner**
Congratulations to this month's Car of the Month winner, 1986Z28OWNER with his positively brutal 1986 Z28.
The car itself is a 1986 Z28, it has a custom 8 point roll cage certed to 8.50, Custom tubular front end, PA racing Rack and pinion conversion and caster camber plates, Manual brakes, Spohn torque arm, SFC’s, LCA’s, PHB, and A arms. Strange double adjustable coil overs and rear shocks, Billet specialties street lites, 15 x 3.5” in the front with a mickey Thompson sportsman S/R radial, and a 15x10 in the rear w/ a Mickey Thompson Pro 275 drag radial. The car is painted Porsche grauschwarz, and basically went through a full exterior restoration (new emblems, handles, locks, gaskets, seals, weatherstripping, park lights, marker lights etc.) The car also has a full interior, Kirkey Pro street seats, carpet, head liner, full interior plastics, rear seat, door panels etc… Has a pull set of Autometer gauges, and a Hurst Pistol grip Pro stick shifter.
The Engine is a Twin Turbo 400ci SBC. Dart block, Callies crank and rods, Custom diamond pistons, Custom grind solid roller by LJMS, Xceldyne belt drive, CFE 18 degree cylinder heads, Ferrea valves, PSI valve springs, Delwest titanium retainers, T&D shaft rockers, Custom converted EFI single plane intake, Bosch 160lb injectors, Edebrock elbow, Wilson 95mm billet throttle body.
Turbos are a pair of Borg Warner Billet S467’s supplied by Forced Inducitons, Custom air to air intercooler supplied by Chiseled Performance, and a custom built turbo kit (stainless hot side)
For fuel injection I am running a Holley HP EFI w/ a davis technologies plug and play TC-1 traction control. Boost is controlled by a Leash Electronics boost/pulse leash combo unit.
Transmission is a Transmission Specialties powerglide, Reid case, roller tail housing, Pro brake, 1.80 str cut gear set.

I hope it's not out of proper protocol to ask a few questions. After all a great amount of detail has been shared with us after all the pain and suffering of assembling testing and running a beast like this.
My question to 1986Z28OWNER is why he chose a dry sump oil system? (I'm only up to page 5 on the build thread). Please tolerate more questions from ignant folk like me... I dream of Gale Banks TT on my custom built engine. Research continues.

I went with the dry sump for a few reasons, oil control, I know the benefits it carries with reducing windage, and overall its a safer system when I start going fast with the car.

Wow. I've been away and missed this thread entirely. As always, well done. Can't wait to see this machine in person. (I'm 25 minutes from your local track).
