Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

Found this on the Internet...the steel wool suggestion is one I haven't heard of before.

http://www.ewindowwashing.com/window...d-water-spots/

My father used to use a powdered cleaner like Dutch Girl, or Ajax, and a soft cloth. Just don't use too much pressure, and use lots of water.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

Thanks! I used to use fine steel wool and Windex on the inside of my wood burning country stove glass. It worked fantastic...no scratching either. I give it a shot.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

I have really bad water spots on my GTA's glass. I bought some water spot remover from Chemical Guys recently and I plan to test it out this weekend. Link is below. The demo videos were enough to convince me to give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes.

http://www.chemicalguys.com/Water_Sp...spi_886_16.htm

I've also used the stuff from Mother's, Meguiar's, Rain-X, etc. that is meant to be applied by hand. None of it really works.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

I uses some SprayWay Glass Cleaner and 0000 Steel Wool on a small area last night and with no effort at all, the spots are gone! Now I need to do the rest of the glass. It should be a walk in the park. Thanks for the tip Galaxie!
And I'll check out the chemicalguys 86firebird350!

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

I use 000-0000 steel wool on glass all the time. Even some of that CRL type stuff w the steel wool for pesky water spots.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

I am going to try CLR. On my hatch on the TTA, some of the stains are etched in the glass. Nothing I have tried up to this point has worked. I have some 0000 steel wool also.

Tape off the area where the glass and decklid meet b4 u use steel wool, don't want any rust seeds getting down in there making monsters.

I will try this. Do you wet it or use it dry?

Wish I had known about the steel wool thing sooner. That might be the simplest, cheapest solution yet! Oh well, hopefully this stuff from Chemical Guys does the trick.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

Here are some before pictures of my back glass. I don't know if the pictures can show all the detail but the water spots were BAD. There was literally no clean area and the spots were very heavy on the glass.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

And here are some after pictures. This took three applications of the Chemical Guys Waterspot RX using a 7424XP with an orange pad. Like I said, the water spots were bad. But the back glass is completely smooth now and water spot free. I did end up using some steel wool on the edges and in the corners where the DA couldn't reach. It worked pretty well but I wouldn't want to do the whole thing by hand with steel wool.

Re: Removing Hard Water Spots On Glass

WOW, that turned out great. I might check into that. I did the steel wool this weekend but still needs some work. Not up to my standards yet!
