Alternative bumpers

I dont mean to insult anyone with this topic, its just a matter of preference. Does anyone know of an aftermarket bumper for the Firebird's? I'm not to keen on the nostril look. Nothing drastic, just with no holes. Something like this would be awesome:

And before someone says "Buy another car", I'm looking to get a relatively cheap Fbody for auto-x and track purposes. Trying to keep my options as open as possible. Thanks.

Re: Alternative bumpers

Maybe try a bumper off of an earlier car? Its not exactly what you are looking for but it doesn't have the 'Nostrils"

Are they interchangable and, if so, what exactly is involved? For instance, can the bumper off a 1990 fit on a '91 or '92?

Re: Alternative bumpers

from 82-92 anythign is interchangable with either no problem or just filling in some holes and making some new ones to mount different yr parts.

just depends what kind of work you want to do to get the look you want.

check out my post i took a 1986 trans am and made it look like a mixture between 82-84. came out pretty good i think.

on your car the ground effects wouldnt match if you just change the front bumper.

another route is customizing your bumper by filling in those nostrilles and repainting it.

theres no quick fix from what i can see for what you want. depending on how good you want to make that is.

Re: Alternative bumpers

i know but i used front air deflector gfx that was on used on 82 trans ams, tehy went to the complete front spoiler lip gfx for 83-84 trans ams and im not including firebirds in this equation. so i used 82 air deflectors in the front of the car with no front air lip gfx for the front bumper and went with 83-84 door and rear bumper gfx.

Re: Alternative bumpers

Hmmm, the problem w/ the 82-84 noses is they have the louvers. I have an 83 Firebird and I had to get rid of the louvered nose, I could not stand it. I went w/ the 85-90 TA full conversion and could not be happier with how much better the car looks to me. It's like the car looks 10 years newer. Other than the 85-90 TA nose, I can't think of any other nose that is just flat on the front. Pontiac either used louvers (82-84), weird bumperettes (formula), the 85-90 TA (my favorite, and the only Firebird package that kept me from owning a Camaro in this era) or your nose.

Re: Alternative bumpers

LOL that is true.

You know what, after taking a second look at your "nostril delete" option it really doesn't look all that bad, it's like a weird corvette. I don't know if you can do plastic welding on these urethane noses. If you can you would need some scrap material to fill in the holes, but it would probably be a nightmare getting everything to look right.
