91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

Hello everyone, Ive noticed this on my 3rd gen camaro and many others how the front
ground effects come to almost a point in the center of the car. It looks to me almost like a V. I think that it'S UGLY and cheap looking. I've seen new vehicles looking back in magazines and they dont look like this. Is it the front
bumper cover that comes out of shape causing the middle to sag? Im sure you guys have noticed this. The sides are almost 1 1/2" higher than the middle if not more! Anybody have any fixes for this? I hate looking at my car straight on! Thanks.

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

mine sagged because my haeder panal ( the piece that holds the head lights and bumper on) was warrped its made of fiber glass and i never thought that would be my problem cause my hood to bumper gap was perfect but that was my problem i switched the header panal out and put all new hardware and it brought mine up alot at least an inch or maybe inch and a half

Wow, thats good to know. Next question is where did you get a new header panel from? Also how involved of a job was it, and how long did it take? Appreciate the reply.

I'm not exactly sure if this is what you're talking about, but I think mine does the same thing. Is your's like this or is it worse?

Still a little confused as to what you mean?

Are you talking about the spoiler starting to sag/point down in the center or are you talking about the whole thing physically sagging? On my 91Z, the spoiler doesn't point out so much, only down, probably from P/O smacking it into parking blocks.

It also doesn't fit perfect along the bottom edge of the nose.

Im talking about where the spoiler is located completely in the middle of the car (under the camaro lic plate spot), how it is so much lower than the sides. Mine and so many others I've seen are like this.

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

Its a realy crappy picture but I made two brackets that mount to the back side of the bumper cover using the same bolts as the ground effect. Does a great job of keeping the front up and nicely pointed. Looks just like a new ground effect. Maybe this weekend Ill get the car out of the garage and get some better pictures of the ground effect and the brackets

Heres a better picture showing how the ground effect sits now, plus I just want to ***** my car. This is from before I repainted the ground effect, got a lil too close to a parking curb. Anyway, Ill get pictures of the brackets this weekend. Gotta move my plow out of the way of the garage

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

Theres mine.I notice mine starts saging where the front fascia and the grill opening meets with the front spoiler.I also noticed that there were no bolts in place to hold the spoiler to the front fascia.I will be putting some in shortly.

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

well ive got another thirdgen that i pulled it off of. and honestly it was very aggravating because you hae to remove the bumper and the bolts inide the where the fender meets the bumper always strip out no matter how careful u are espicially the one closest to the top

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

hey, i have a rebuilt 91 and i noticed that it sagged pretty bad in the middle so i just had a friend of mine make a bracket that screws into those little holes at the bottom and mounts directly to the impact bar behind the bumper. It helped Dramatically.

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

well first we took a flat piece of metal and drilled holes in it corresponding to the holes on the bottom of the front spoiler. Then we took what looked like small metal bars and bent them to line up with the piece of metal and the holes on the bottom of the impact bar. (note: you will have to push the "sag" as far forward as it can go before taking measurements) We then drilled holes into the smaller metal bars and then put bolts in to hold and PRESTO!!! The sag is gone snd it becomes the most indestructable front spoiler on a third gen. ps i will try and post some pics later. If you need anything else just ask.

I hate to bring up such an old thread, but does anyone have any pics of these brackets they made? I'm trying to fix the same problem.

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

I wish I had taken pictures but I didnt. I removed the air dam and accessed the front
part of the spoiler directly in the middle. I used 1/16" thick flat steel sheet comes in a 3t. length, its about I would say an 1 and 1/4 width? that I bought in Lowes. Its flexible yet ridged enough that it would serve the purpose I intended it for. I drilled one end of that steel in the lower radiator support which is ridgid than I kind of made two slight bends so it was positioned
directly in in the middle of the spoiler and drilled a hole and bolted it up. It actually pushed the center of the spoiler forward and up. It looks oem now without that horrible sag in the middle!

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

I'm thinking of putting a piece from one fender to the other, then a piece off of that in the middle out toward the front spoiler. The only thing in my way is the air baffle (air dam?). But I can figure that out.

Re: 91-92 z28 front spoiler sag in the middle.

i noticed that IS part of the reason behind the sag too...there is a space above the grill in the grill opening that bothers me! It's because everything on my front end has dropped.
