duraflex bumper on a 91 firebird?
Hey. I have a 91 firebird and I am not a fan if the pointed bumper. I have heard that switching the bumper out with one from a 85+ takes some work so I started to look for kits and came across the duraflex bumper witch I really like. My question is that will it fit ok on my 91 without having to get new headlight motors exe.? Or should it just bolt right in no issues? And also would this bumper look alright without the body kit that goes with it? Thanks!
Kit says it's for all years of firebirds btw

I assume you mean an aftermarket bumper? If so if sure it won't fit well on any year and require all kinds of fitting. The 85-90 do have different headlights so that may be an issue, but prob just one of many.

Doesn't fit good at all. Looks like it's molded for 82 -90 Camaros and the quality of the part is horrible.

I was looking at selling my TA because I needed the extra cash for bills, but have since changed my mind. I am looking into totally repainting and I have been looking at getting one of these Duraflex kits for some time now. I might even go with the Duraflex hood. I would hope that it would fit my 87 better than it fits yours though. How does it attach at the sides at the fenders? silicone? I have painted for years and I know with any aftermarket fiberglass it will need some work done to get it to fit properly. Anyone else have the whole kit put on? and how do you like it? Share some pics please if possible.

it wraps around the inner fenders on the front. I just used three pop rivets there and used a couple rivets on the sides to pull it up against the fenders. My plan is to primer it grey, do the sunroof and trim flat black and call it good. Not even gonna fill the dings. The idea is an fugly sleeper. One thing I should point out is that the front area that would bolt to the five fender mount holes on each side only has surface area for the top fender hole. Also you'll have to fab any lower front braces. The mesh is held in place by about 22 gauge wire that was placed in the inner layer of fiberglass.
If you do go with Duraflex, plan on a ton of hours to get it "show car" quality.
Hope this helps

Looks like you got some light fitting issues. My question is I too was interested in fitting this to a 89 GTA. Would I still run into the same fitting problems?

I would guess that if all of there bumper covers come from the same mold, yes. I bought this about a year ago, so the 30 day return was waaay past due.

It does. Both corners are lined up on the horizontal with the fenders. The passenger side is tapered away from the fender about an 1 1/2" at that mounting point. And yes the center does stick up like that. I didn't force, bow or flex it. I lined up the corners with the fenders and that's where it sat. May have to try and blend a cowl induction scoop into it. Haven't got that far yet. May try to pull the center section down next weekend.
