Firebird mirrors on a Camaro
Hi All,
Bit of background information. I have a 1991 RS which was an export model, so comes with electric fold away plastic mirrors. I've always wanted the standard metal aero style mirrors.
Can you swap a set of mirrors from a Pontiac Firebird on to a Camaro? I'm going to assume the bolt holes for these plastic mirrors will be the same as the standard ones, I just need to know if those from a Firebird are the same as the ones on a Camaro. It's much easier to find electric mirrors for a Firebird than a Camaro.
Cheers all,
Andy

Mirrors are the same. Power mirror harness and switch are different, everything else is the same

Cheers for the replies guys!
Can I assume it'll just be a case of splicing the existing wires to the new mirrors then?
Not overly fussed about them working. Got to admit for the last three years I've owned the car I don't remember touching them!

No, not even that big a deal. The connectors at the door are the same, it's all plug and play.
I should have been clearer in saying that the control switches and where the switches connect to the harness are different between firebird and camaro.

FWIW, on many electrical connectors you can remove each wire via a small tab so you may not have to splice the wiring. It's called "repinning a connector" if you want to google it.
When you buy the used mirrors make sure the gasket interface is in good condition. I don't know what you have but it may be shaped differently as well.
