Replacement headlight options

Sorry for posting this. I'm sure there has been a ton of questions about this and I did do some searching, but not finding what I'm looking for.

The stock headlights are horrid right now. It might be brighter if I taped a flashlight to the hood. We have an 88 iroc and want to know what the easiest option is for replacing or upgrading the headlights.
Would really like something plug and play, but I could do minimal wiring if I had to.

Anyway what are people using for direct replacements that look new and clean and are easy to install? Thanks!

Re: Replacement headlight options

Looks like Sylvania makes direct replacement bulbs/headlight. The silverstar. Are those an alright bulb to use? I got them in my tacoma a while back and wasn't impressed with the light they put out, but I want a direct replacement that's better than stock so.... :/

I have the Sylvania Silverstars on my car. They work great. I even put them on my S.U.V.

Didn't look at the actual ad, but I bet it's a kit to do what I did years ago. I got 2 replacement hi/lo beam lights(aka the outer lights) and plugs from a junkyard. I used the JY bulbs to replace the inner hi beam only bulbs so I now have 4 lo beam and 4 hi beam lights. Then wired them up with relays so they get power directly off the battery, instead of through the headlight switch. Plenty of light now in front of the car, even better than my wife's '12 avenger. For good measure, I also picked up a couple of aftermarket fog/driving lights from another junkyard and replaced the 55w H3 bulbs with 100w H3 bulbs. I can drive just fine at night with just those on, but with everything on, it's almost as good as driving in daylight. I really miss it when I park the car for the winter and have to drive my S10 with its stock headlights.

Re: Replacement headlight options

I have the Xtravision's and they work for my DD city driving.
I will most likely try the Silverstar's when the time comes.

Re: Replacement headlight options

What you posted up is similar to what I did.

Easiest option is to buy 4 of the housings only and use whatever h4 bulb you want.

The stock wiring will plug directly into h4 bulb, but you will need to swap the wires in the plug. Search h4 adapter on here to see what to swap

Re: Replacement headlight options

Truck Lite and GE Lighting have a LED replacement for the quad lamp high beam, low beam system (165MM). They are out of reach for me because of the cost.

Here is a link I found=http://www.truckinginfo.com/channel/products/product/detail/2015/05/truck-lite-releases-4x6-led-headlight-system.aspx

Re: Replacement headlight options

Sorry to post on this discussion but using my phone, I can't figure out how to post a new question without getting into some one else's. Anyway. I bought an 89 iroc with350. Great shape low miles. Can I change the body kit to a 91 or 92 body kit.

Yes. Keep in mind that the 91-92 has a different rear bumper too

But how would one make those look less plasticardized?
