Anyone know what these clips are called or where to get them?

First off, I apologize if this is in the wrong board.

When I bought this 88 IROC, it didn't have any hood struts. I have a new set of struts, but I need some sort of clip to hold it in and I'm not sure what they are. I found this clip in the trunk of the car and it seems to work, but when I searched for them I couldn't find them. It closely resemble the clip used on the door lock rod. Any help would be appreciated, sorry if this is a stupid question!

Just did a full brake job on mine and it looks like the clip that holds the soft brake line in place near the wheels.

You're right, that's the clip. I suppose this isn't the right clip for the struts then. Hmmm.

Well, I found this and it looks like the same clip. Maybe I can get away with using the brake hose clips.

Re: Anyone know what these clips are called or where to get them?

The clip you need goes where the rubber line transitions to the hard line.It should open, so it can slip into place. There is also a small bracket that bolts to the strut, which the brake line fits into. That clip holds it inplace.

Re: Anyone know what these clips are called or where to get them?

that second reply threw me off! First pic looks like the clip that holds the throttle &/or cruise control cable on.Hood strut is completely different from both brake & pic.

Those are positively OEM hood strut retainers. I have 4 of these cars and only one still has the OEM struts and that is the retainer. (and there a bear to get off without bending them) The after market struts come with a different type of retainer. I know this issues was subsequently solved but I'm throwing in my 5 cents (inflation) so that anybody who reads this thread in the future can have certainty.

Re: Anyone know what these clips are called or where to get them?

I changed my hood struts today and that's definitely the clip that held them. New $15 ebay struts came with new clips.

That's definitely NOT a hood strut clip

This is:

It's a brake line clip, used on struts and hardline to subframe connections

Re: Anyone know what these clips are called or where to get them?

Still don't think its for the brake line. The closed part wouldnt allow it to slip off to remove the brake line.

Looks like the clip for the throttle cable.

It's Called A Retainer #14036396,That Is The Correct Part In Your Pic,It Was Used On The Old Style Struts From The Factory And Is No Longer Available Since New Struts Now Come With Their Own Retainers. It's #18 In The Drawing.
