Trunk won't latch!!!
I bought an 88 camaro and they rigged it since it had a dead battery so the trunk wont latch
Theirs a bunch of wires that are not connected to anything by the latch and the cable won't stay on the lock cylinder...
Not sure what the hell to do. I can provide pics if needed.
No it's not that it won't pull down. I don't know that yet, it simply will not latch down.

Re: Trunk won't latch!!!
You have to connect the latch back up. You can latch it with it down though. You may have to readjust the pull down motor so that it's up more. Loosen the 3 bolts and move it up more. My motor was all the way down on my 89 Camaro and I could slam the hatch a little bit and get it to latch. I just read that the cable won't stay connected, is the plastic piece completely broken?

BUT the cable won't mate with the lock cylinder. It's the same as the original one, and it's the original lock cylinder. but the square end of the lock cylinder doesnt mate up with the square end of the cable.

Re: Trunk won't latch!!!
Is it the very end part of the lock cylinder into the square hole of the plastic part? Does it appear that the plastic is fully intact or are the tabs broken?

Yeah the very end part, they don't match up perfectly, not broken or anything. The only way for it to slide on is if the lock is turned all the way with the key, which obviously don't work...

Worse case is you could order a new lock from Hawks: http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/hatc...-86-92-camaro/
Unfortunately that would have a separate key from the other doors to open.
