Help! Cowl Induction

I have 1992 Pontiac Firebird and i want to get a cowl induction hood for the car. Everywhere i look there is only fiberglass and not steel. I know fiberglass is very expensive to painf. If anyone knows of a website that has a steel cowl induction hood, please let me know. I appreciate it.

Re: Help! Cowl Induction

I am in the same boat as the previous owner added a fiberglass cowl to my hood and the 800lbs of bondo he used cracked. I looked all over and could only find metal ones for third gen camaros not firebirds. I am thinking about getting one of these metal cowls and welding it on

Re: Help! Cowl Induction

No one offers one so if you want one you have to make it yourself.

A good fiberglass hood is no more expensive to paint than a steel hood so I don't see the problem. Besides, the weight reduction is nice.

Harwood makes a good 2" and vfn makes a good 4.5". Bolt on is better, dont buy anything with a brand name in anyway resembling duraflex.

Re: Help! Cowl Induction

Vfn makes good quality parts yes. I've had their 4.5" hood on my can since 2004. Fit and finish was very good.
