Car: 1985 Sport Coupe
Engine: 305
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.08
help, i can remove my wheel. seems to be welded to drum
yes i removed the lug nuts. i had the problem with the passenger side, but after enough kicking it came off.
i've sprayed PB blaster anywhere i could. i let the blaster sit overnight and resprayed it before trying today. i've kicked the damn wheel/tire from under the car. i've hit it with a hammer(with block of wood between the hammer and the rim). i've done all that i can think of and the damn thing is still on the car and now my foot is sore.
anyone got any ideas? i'll keep on trying and i hope it comes off.
now i have to wonder, when in the hell was the last time the brakes were changed? this is the second time i've tried to remove the rim with no success in the year i've owned it.
also any tips on not letting this happen again? would painting the drums prevent this from happening?

Now If You Don't And You Have The E-brake Off You Should Be Pulling The Rim And Drum Off As A Set. If Not Pull The Plug On The Back Of The Backing Plate And Relieve The Pressure With A Flat Blade Screwdriver Via The Adjusting Lever.

This may take 2 people. Take a 2x4 that is longer than the wheel and tire are wide, place it on the back side of the rim/tire. beat it with a sledge hammer. After every hit, turn the rim and tire. Whatever, you do, do not hit the rim. you will bend it. With the PB blaster and doing this, it should come right off.

i had the same problem with my 91 z28. i loosened all the lug nuts, about three turns, then i pushed the car from the side (rocking motion) and it worked.

This is a common problem with almost any car that has aluminum wheels. the wheel's tolerances are much tighter than steel wheels and corrosion between the two metals (aluminum and iron don't mix well) causes the wheels to get stuck after even a short time. I've had good luck removing them using a real soft rubber hammer from the backside while you spin the wheel. be gentle and patient and they'll come right off. the more forceful approach is to lock your brakes (or park brake) and use a bar or jack handle between the spokes and pry it off. You could also try driving it for a little bit and get the wheel warm from braking, then immediatley pull them off. Aluminum expands more than the cast iron brake parts and should come off rather easily. Try and stay away from loosening the lug nuts and rocking the car. you can easily egg out the lug holes in the soft aluminum and wreck your rims.

I use the hit and spin method. Hit it, turn the wheel 180 degrees, hit it, turn alittle hit, then another 180 degrees etc etc. Or you can just go around the circle...but you dont want to hit it too much in one spot because all it will do is bind up.
Ive never tried the loosen nuts and drive method...although Ive come close.
Loosening them, setting the whole car on the ground, and giving it one hell of a side to side shake usually gets the worst stuck on wheels off for me. Once you get the car doing a shimmy, you can get a good amount of force on that wheel.
Good luck! Ide rather have a stuck wheel than a seized or stripped lug nut!!
