LS1/C5 brake upgrade for 10 bolt

Is this as easy as it sounds? Ive been trying to find info on this but most threads focus on the front modifications. Do i have to use Ed's brackets or can i use the 1LE/LT1 bracket? Ive been having trouble getting a hold of Ed so i thought i would try to put my own set together. I am aiming for a 12-13 inch rotor which can only be had using the LS1/C5 route. Most companys only make a 11 inch or smaller rotor for the LT1, although i have found one set from Baer that are 13 inches but cost 575 for both. I still want the use of a Ebrake even though this is a track only car to use for drifting/autocross. The cost seems really low from what ive priced so far. BTW its all going on a 87 IROC 10bolt.

-rotors 12-13 inches x2 $64 each
-calipers LS1 $45 each, C5 $58 each
-already have braided lines and adjustable PV
-caliper brackets $85 on Ed's website
-most of these are estimates using autozones website

Im alittle lost when it comes to the ebrake assesmbly, i could use some help with that. Anyone have some helpful advise or know of another route to get the caliper brackets?

Re: LS1/C5 brake upgrade for 10 bolt

ok i have a new question. Im looking for the most affordable way to upgrade to a rear 12-13 inch disc setup. The rear end im using is an 87iroc with factory disc. Im assuming the 89-92 pbr's, and according to the post u linked i can use the C4 rear rotor to get to 12inches. So now i would only need the caliper carrier(caliper bracket) correct? Anyone have a part number or know anyone who can make me a set?

Sorry to be off topic for a second. Above you mention that the rear is a 10-bolt and now you mention that it's an 87 OE disc. Are you certain of the year?

Many thanks,

JamesC

I am doing the C5/LS1 conversion to my car. Here are the kits that I purchased from Ed Miller. His kits are complete and ready to install.

Re: LS1/C5 brake upgrade for 10 bolt

I spent less than 1k on my C5/GTO front and LS1 rear brake setup. Just FYI, if you'r gonna buy used front calipers for a C5/baseC6 upgrade, just know that the 2006 and I believe 2005 as well and up GTO calipers are the same casting as the C6 and go for less money on ebay. I used 2006 GTO calipers. Also, they dont have the raised "Corvette" logo on them, they are just red with white "GTO" letters painted on them. I'd got for the front C5/C6/GTO option. 2004 GTO calipers are NOT usable or interchangable with C5 rotors or abutment brackets.
