Rear brake issues
First off this on a 88 gta with 9 bolt rear with stock brakes. I've been doing a lot of maintenance trying to get car rwady to ship overseas. For the brakes i replaced all rubber lines with steelbraided ones. new master cylinder. New rear calipers to try to get parking brake to work. The parking brake still wasn't working good enought to ship after adjusting cables and the new calipers. Everything seems to work just not good enough. So i fabbed up a drift style cylinder to parking brake handle to use hydro pressure for parking brake. Still wont hold good enough. It seems as if the rear brakes just aren't working good enough. With the rear end in the air the brakes cant hold the rear from spinning in gear. They have to be able to keep car from moving at 1200 rpm accosding to the shipping place. Please help. I'm on a time crunch and dont want to have to sell car.

Re: Rear brake issues
How did this work out?
I had the exact same issue every year trying to pass my city vehicle inspection. Even upgrading to 89 PBR rear brakes never gave the parking brake enough holding power. I finally wired in a switch to turn off my brake light, so I could hold the brake pedal.

Re: Rear brake issues
Well I ended up having to fab up my own manual line lock to get them to hold good enough for the shipping company. The parking brake got progressively worse and doesn't do anything currently. I will be looking at swapping to ls1 rear brakes prior to my next inspection to permanently get the parking brake to work. It is frustrating to have replaced everything for the rear brakes and adjusted it all and it still not work right. I took it to a couple places and they couldn't get it to work better either. I made sure to use the parking every time I park so it would keep adjusted but just got worse slowly over time.
