88 Vert - rust free Caliornia car in Los Angeles
A friend is selling a rust free 1988 IROC Z28 convertible that needs some work, but runs and drives fine.
I have seen the car, and heard it run, and I can tell you the following:
Has the new style IROC wheels that have been chromed (looks nice)
Maroon paint is in poor condition overall - looks like a cheap repaint was done a few years ago, driver's door lock cover is a little mangles, and has a small dent in the driver's front fender
Convertible top and all major components are present, but front metal header bar on convertible top has cracked (as has the plastic cover), and the top is missing a spring in the latch release, although the handle and cable and related parts are all present
Engine is said to be an L89, but I could not verify it, as the sticker was missing from under the hood - but it is TPI, starts right up, runs well and sounds healthy
RPO code sticker is still affixed to the console lid
Interior is complete, seats are okay, with exception of small cigarette burn on driver's side seat
Gauge cluster appears to be from a 91 (newer, yellow markings) as does steering wheel and column (has airbag, which doesn't make sense)
Third brake light is missing from the trunk lid, but all other convertible specific body parts are intact
My opinion - it's a decent project car, basically complete and running, with no rust - and it's a 'vert. Not ready to be a daily driver, but with a lot of work could be a nice 'vert for someone. He bought it as a project, but doesn't know anything about 3rd gens and realized he was in over his head.
He's asking $2800, which I think is a fair price.
I am posting this for a friend, so please don't email or PM me about the car, call him - Sebastian at 323-997-3534 or email at sebastian@techquestla.com
