In getting maintenance log together and going through my file on the car I found the factory build sheet that I forgot the original owner gave me. Scanned it in to show that this is a true B4C with the 1LE option also. That explains the aluminum driveshaft. I thought the original owner put that on but appears to not be the case. Attaching here. Also have a picture of what's left of the factory window sticker. Will upload later.

Not to nitpick, but you had it right the first time. RPO 1LE covers the front brakes. RPO JG1 would cover the driveshaft if it'd been so equipped from the factory. Since JG1 isn't present, it didn't come with an aluminum shaft originally. Regardless, it doesn't detract from the value of the car.

driveshaft came with 1le, was part of the package along with the brakes, and baffled fuel tank with a swing arm pick-up. Smaller aluminum spare tire as well

I believe this is incorrect as these are some of the myths of the B4C. The baffeled tanks, aluminimum driveshaft, etc are things I even believed in years ago.

Some of the experts might chime in soon to confirm hopefully.

Alright ladies and gents. My other add outside the forum came very close to the B4C going to New York area but has expired. That prospective buyer found another sweet Camaro close to home that he didn't have to have shipped. I don't blame him but the road trip home is half the fun! LOL... We had a great time driving this one from Lake Jackson, TX back to Hays, KS in 1999!

I've had a lot of comments that I'm priced well on it right now. The battery was getting flaky and old so had it tested this last weekend and sure enough it had a bad cell and needed replaced. I also have some new outside window felts that go with the car I might put on but would rather leave them off for the next owner. If it doesn't sell before Thanksgiving we're going to store it at my folks in Hays, KS for the winter rather than our garage. So if anyone from the Wichita area or vicinity wants to look at it before then let me know. Questions or interests send my way!

all B4C are 1LE... 1LE is the racing package... only makes sense to include the factory installed alum. drive shaft. ive NEVER seen a B4C w/o the alum. shaft

B4C Camaro's did not have the aluminum driveshaft. The 1LE is only on the build sheet and SPI card for the corvette brakes.

Chevrolet built 589 Camaro's with Special Service Package (RPO B4C). It was similar to RPO G92 with air conditioning since it offered the same engine choices, had dual-converter exhaust, 16-inch wheels, 4-wheel disc brakes (including Corvette-style front brake calipers), engine oil cooler, 145-mph speedometer and special suspension. RPO B4C was restricted to RS Coupes. RPO B4C Camaro's in 1992 (but not 1991) included the "1LE" code on their service parts identification labels, apparently due to the inclusion of the Corvette-style front brake calipers. Correction:

The only thing that is "1LE" on the Police cars is the brakes. The rest of the suspension and other hardware are all standard Z28 stuff. From being a GM partsman, I have the old GM parts manuals and as a previous poster said "there are many B4C myths". I've studied this and the proof is in the manuals. I found that all the shocks, bushings, sway bars, springs, aluminum driveshaft etc...were unique to 1LE cars. The B4Cs and Z28s have the same parts listed.

Cops did not want to spend all day in a patrol car getting their backs pounded by an overly stiff road race type suspension, but they needed the good brakes. Notice how the brakes became optional in late 91 (standard in 92). They were only an add on to the B4C package at first. The 1LE code is listed in the RPO sheets to ensure the assembly line added the big brakes, the B4C code ensured the car got all other Z28 components with RS badges and body work.

B4Cs are not true 1LE cars. This is what makes them unique unto themselves. Something that remains a mystery is if all the 1LE production totals include B4Cs? Being how rare it is to find a 1LE car, I'm led to believe 589 of those 705 1LEs in 1992 are indeed B4C cars, leaving only 116 true 1LE Z28 cars. Any thoughts?

I just bought a 60,000 mile b4c never in service also and it has a steel drive shaft. I have the build sheet if someone will tell what block it is in I can look and see if it will tell.

Some people just won't get it.

A 1LE only car has the things you mention above along with radio delete and AC delete but a B4C car with 1LE option only has the brakes. This means that if it is a B4C Police Package car it got the 1LE brakes and nothing else.

I did not hear from the buyer I had a verbal agreement with while my family was back for Christmas. I have no idea if he'll contact me or what. I left messages and text messages with no response. I have officially sold the B4C Camaro. Had a guy look at it over New Years and went back to test drive/look it over better last night. The exchange was made this time and he is now the proud new owner. Thanks for all the replies and exchange on information clearing up the B4C vs. 1LE myths. Now to start getting the garage ready for restoration on my 68 Camaro.
