not to nitpick but i dont know if thats really the original paint. 1) the iroc decals are missing 2) it looks like the z28 emblems are painted over but i could be wrong. that being said gorgeous car and interior looks great, if i had the cash id be all over this. good luck with sale!

Saw the first response and was going to say they could be optioned with decal delete, but it clearly is a repaint. I don't understand why someone would make a car look so nice and not even mask the emblems.

Re: 1987 Chevy Camaro IROC Z
Thank you for your responses. The fellow I purchased this car from 17 years ago was a gm collector. He had several vettes and Camaros. He needed room for his new 1997 vette he had on order. He had this 1987 IROC special ordered and requested the factory decal delete option. I am not sure if this was "officially" available this year, however, if you see the car in person you can tell that this is in fact original paint. Additionally, the small Z28 decals that would be near the front tires are not present. The paint is directly over the surface the decal would adhere to...no decal present. Feel free to contact me with any further questions. Thanks again.

The emblems on the rocker panels near the front wheels don't have decals on them. They are plastic emblems with a clear plastic over them. The ones in the photo look like they were painted over. The emblems have two plastic studs that plug into the rocker panel. If there were no emblems there would just be an indentation with two holes in the rocker panel.

Theres one picture that shows the rear of the car.... looks like there are no emblems there either.
My guess is original paint with emblems removed.

Rich,
The car is still available. You can send me your information securely via my cars.com ad at http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...ngId=132957036 if you don't feel comfortable doing so via this forum. I am not very familiar with this forum and am not aware of a secure method to transfer info here. Thank you for your interest, and I look forward to speaking with you.

Mike and Vons,
Yes...I was given the emblems with the two posts when I purchased the car (in a box). I no longer have them. The surfaces where these emblems would go front/and rear bumper are solid though. I'm am guessing that gm would punch the holes prior/during assembly of these. I never painted the car and to the best of my knowledge the previous owner received the car special order from gm/dealer in this condition.

So it sounds like an order request from the factory of no decals or emblems....
I hope it finds another good home.

DX3 decal delete was available '88-'90 only. Emblems were ALWAYS there from the factory.

Yes, the "Z28" emblem is painted over. With emblem removed it would have deeper space in the ground effects and have two holes present where the emblem afixes.
A beautiful car. But it does have a dirty little secret in it's past.
It came from the factory with decals and obviously without painted over emblems, so something happened after it left the factory.
How many miles on the car?

I certainly understand Mike...and I did not take your response that way. I appreciate the replies and information. I can also appreciate your situation with your purchase. Thanks,
Ken

You have me thinking about this now...and this is going back a ways now...and I never put much attention to it...I did have a box of emblems. It is possible that the emblems are painted over at the factory and he bought extras? I never really research this aspect of the car as I liked the delete look.

Ken I passed this info on to a guy looking for a 5 speed car. I talked to him about selling him mine but he didn't want to pay over ten grand. Yours is in his price range and is the right color he wants too. If he doesn't mind the hard top he may be contacting you.

Just FYI, this is what they would look like without the emblems.
I know the car is gone, congrats. This is just more on the "spur" topic. The car had something painted. Lol
