Car: Silver Metallic 1985 IROC-Z
Engine: LB9 305 TPI
Transmission: 700-R4 automatic
Axle/Gears: 3.42:1
1985 IROC-Z, SILVER METALLIC

Low mileage, highly optioned, first year IROC-Z in the rare color Silver Metallic. 30,500 miles, LB9 305 Tuned Port Injection in it's inaugural H.O. camshaft version (mandatory 700R 4-speed automatic transmission for that engine), T-Top with roof console, Conteur interior, graphic equalizer cassette stereo - arguably on of the most collectible examples of a 3rd gen Camaro. PW, PDL, tilt wheel, cruise, fresh tires, local one owner car that has spent most of it's life in a 5 car climate controlled shrine of a car garage.

Here's the negatives: the driver's side front seat has a silver dollar sized hole in the outside lower bolster (I have a line on a local set of OEM Conteur covers), a couple very minor door dings on the driver's side, and according to the original owner the car was professionally re-painted about 10 years ago (looks very good) due to factory paint oxidizing prematurely.

Location is Lancaster, Ohio (35 miles SE of Columbus). Price is $11,500.

Re: 1985 IROC-Z, SILVER METALLIC

Stunning car! I have a silver '85 also, although mine is very rough. So I guess this means there's at least two silver Irocs in central Ohio.

Nice looking car!! I've not seen one in that color, I especially like the interior. What are you currently asking for it? Are there any pictures of the dash and gauges?

Thanks guys, it's been wintered in a climate controlled garage, and soon to be brought out for spring. All above mentioned issues now fixed, price firm at $11,500. Will be listed locally too.

Bring it to Carlisle PA next weekend. Its the 30th anniversary of the IROC camaro at the GM nationals. You would be hard pressed to find a better place to sell an 85 iroc.

Indeed I just may, IMHO this is one of the best configurations offered in 1985.

One of the best colors too. Id say its on the top of my list of fav third gens. The only other way i would have ordered that car maybe is as a L69 with a 5 speed with everything else being the same. I just wish the LB9 in the first years had a stick shift.

I ordered a brand new L69 5-speed Trans Am with all the performance options in 1984, and I can positively tell you this LB9 would spank that TA.

The '85 LB9 cars are pretty stout compared to other cars of the time, even when saddled with an automatic only. I'm sure when the 85s first came out there were a few Mustang owners who were rudely awakened.

This one opened my eyes to that. It would have also taken my '84 Grand National to task. I don't think it wants any of my current '87 GN or '89 TA (20th Anniversary 3.8 Turbo), but then neither of those two are broken in (56 miles on the GN and 231 miles on the TA).

Well, so much for that. Looks to be a washout with all that rain, so not making the drive.

Beautiful car and interior. Wish I were in the market for one and you were not so far away. I just sold an 87 5speed with 33,000 miles for $12,500. Hope you get what you want for yours. It took a while to sell mine. These cars have a big fan base. The only problem is they are all cheapskates.

Thanks Mike, I do think the year, color combo, interior and options, combined with 30700 miles make mine a steal at 11,500.

Re: 1985 IROC-Z, SILVER METALLIC

I agree! $11,500 is more than a fair price for this car! Stick to your guns and it will sell eventually. You just have to try not to let the lowballers and tire kickers raise your blood pressure. I can't tell you how many times I sent more photos and details to people asking and didn't even get a response back from them. I really hate selling cars!

Thanks Mike, there is some local interest right now and I don't know whether I'll be putting it away for winter or not, but it is not being reduced further in price.

Can you post a picture of the engine compartment looking down on it? What is that yellow discoloration on the strut towers?

Sorry, crazy busy for last couple days. As PurelyPMD suggested it is rustproofing, but I'll get some pic's up soon.

Free bump from a fellow IROC-n-Roller who spends lots of time working in Lank-a-stir! You don't see many with this paint and decal combination.

Re: 1985 IROC-Z, SILVER METALLIC

Just another thought...have you tried ebay? You have nice pictures and info and a low mileage high option first year iroc. As others have said don't go lower than you already have. Its too nice a car to just let go to anybody.

Can't believe you still didn't sell this car! Stand firm on your price, beautiful car. 8500? Who does he think he is, Richard Rallins?!

Car: basic third gens
Engine: that I like
Transmission: to restore
Axle/Gears: and enjoy
Re: 1985 IROC-Z, SILVER METALLIC

I agree, don't go any lower because it's just too nice of a car. And uncommonly optioned to boot.

I'd LOOOOOVE to own it, but my own silver IROC deserves to live and I need to see the project through. It needs more work than most 3rd genners are willing to do.
