Car: 1989 Camaro IROC-Z
Engine: LB9
Transmission: T-5
Axle/Gears: 3.08 G80
1989 Iroc-Z28
1989 Camaro Iroc Z28. 230 HP LB9 305, World Class T5 5 speed manual(the only way to get a stick in a Camaro was a V6, or a 305. they never made a 350 stick regardless of what anyone's drinking buddies say), G80 posi rear end with 3.08 gears. 98% stock (it still has the stock exhaust!) ZERO RUST, North Carolina car until 1998, then sat in a heated garage from 2002 to 2014. Still has the original dealer sticker on the back bumper Built August 1988, it's #220 built for 1989. It's a stripper package car (roll up windows, no power locks, no power hatch, manual mirrors), very low options, but it has the biggest motor you could get with a stick. It's also a one year only engine (1989 was the only year for the combo of MAF fuel injection, single port EGR, and a standard L98 corvette camshaft in all LB9 5 speeds,. after 1989, the L98 cam was only available with option package G92) It has rare 15" Iroc wheels, instead of the normal 16". only 7300 cars had 15's, about 17000 cars had 16's. It has A/C, but I have no idea if it works or not, I like my windows down.
It has some wear and tear, like any 25 year old car. The drivers seat has a rip in it from the 1st owner (i have his contact info, and have been in touch). it has a small dent on the drives door, really close to the trim. The paint has some chips here and there, but is a 25 year old car that's daily driven, that's going to happen. It needs hood and hatch struts, as well as the hatch pull down motor (or retro fit to the earlier latch with no pull down required.) The temperature gauge is pegged out (either the gauge is bad, or the coolant sending unit is bad) The tires and shocks are shot from sitting. it needs an alignment, but would need it regardless since it needs shocks. It also needs front brakes, it has the OEM original stuff on it still.
Whats been replaced since I've owned it? The entire fuel system, from tank to pump to filter to fuel pressure regulator to injectors (minus the rail and lines) has been replaced. the injectors are now Bosch type 3, 22lbs. New Stant thermostat & radiator cap and Goodyear silicon radiator hoses. New Energy Suspension poly transmission mount. New MSD distributor cap, rotor, and coil. New Taylor 8mm spark plug wires. New AC Delco spark plugs. New oil pressure sending unit, coolant temperature sensor, MAF, O2 sensor and idle air control valve. I've kept all the parts I've taken off and replaced.
Why am I selling it? It kills me on gas, it would be perfect as a 2nd or 3rd car, but as a primary daily driver, I just cant afford the gas, let alone replacing the listed parts above. It's my favorite car, and it's just so damn pretty, it stops me in my track every time I look at it, so it pains me greatly to get rid of it. I would like it to go to some one who would preserve the car, but also drive the hell out of it, because that's what these cars were made for.
Trades? Not looking for any, but if a really clean, sub 130k mile 5 Speed 4.0 Jeep Wrangler or Cherokee/Comanche came along, I would consider it. Partial trades and Cash would also be considered, but please, no front wheel drive crap or automatics.
$7500 OBO, AS IS! Cash only. No low ballers, I wont sell the car for 5 grand, so dont waste your time or mine. Serious buyers only!

Re: 1989 Iroc-Z28
its like 51k miles now. i had a carfax, but it walked away. all 89 lb9's with the stick got a hotter cam than the g92 cars, so i consider it to be 230, its hot enough to pull on an lt1 car, and its pretty much stock

Oh, I know which cam they had. Just saying that the 230 horse versions had the dual cats from the G92 package. The non G92 5 speed LB9s were 220 in 1989.
And as an aside: your fuel economy would be better with 19# injectors. Unless you've reprogrammed the PROM, it's most likely running too rich with the 22 pounders.

i like it but live in fl, you would need closer pics than the standard 50 ft. and find the carfax, and if you would light it on fire its cus its giving you fits.

I heard different opinions on the 88 injectors that they are different than the later years, if I really lay in to it she clacks like the fuel is to lean???
Any ideas??

22# is stock for your 5.7.
I can't remember when GM replaced the Bosch's with Multecs. 1988 or 1989? If you have the poorly designed Multecs, (they are gray colored), they could be doing anything.
