88 Camaro Iroc(free to good home)
I am trying to get rid of my 1988 Camaro Iroc z. I was offered $200 for it and they were going to scarp her. I would rather give it away than have her scraped. It is in san diego ca. the engine has been bored 30 over aluminum heads full exaust roll bar and 5points. it has been stored for 5 years and does not run the trans is blown. it did run before it was stored. I want it to go to a good home anyone interested let me know.

Oh wow! I wish I lived closer. Be a great car to build
You can get a lot of money out of that car if you wanted to part it out. I see at least $6,000 worth of parts, maybe more.
If you have time to wait, you could put it up on craigslist for $2,000 to $3,000 and sell it as is.

Looks like it found it's good home. Hoping to see a "build thread" after it gets to it's new home.

It's real, guys. He just wanted to find a good home for his car, and he found it. I'd expect a build thread starting in the next coupla weeks.

phantomz28 is legit, so we can cut the BS meter jokes and snarky comments. This is an up and up deal, I spoke at length with him last night, and we've been in touch throughout the day today. I have arrangements made to have the car shipped.

Re: 88 Camaro Iroc(free to good home)
Before the hammer falls, The other day I read a thread of a kid in pa who was looking to buy a camaro from a yard. The car was in bad shape.(parts car) the guy selling it knows the buyer really wants the car and jacked the hell out of the price. 1500 bucks. If this thread is serious and you want to help out a fellow tgo member, would be really nice to offer the car to him. It sounds like it would be his first camaro too. IDK..... just a thought... I will look and see if i can find his name and post it here. Up to the giver.
-Dan
p.s. I would even be down to help pay for shipping arrangements. Maybe we all can get a pool started for him..... Or maybe I drank too much coffee this morning...
(EDIT) Camarofan411 is the guys name..... Just a thought here guys...

I expected this to be a sticky situation when I first called, but I very quickly realized once we talked on the phone that it was not a scam or a joke. Phantomz28 (I won't use his real first name on here without his permission) had as many questions for me as I did for him. Now I realize I've not laid eyes on the car in person, but Phantom has sent me more pictures of the car, pix of the title and I couldn't ask for better communication so far.
Here is what I took from our conversations. Phantom's primary concern is that the car goes to a good home. He wasn't looking to make some kid's day, or searching for a charity case to make a donation. Not that those are bad things, and I'm not saying Phantom doesn't care about helping others. He has had this car since 1997, it's been his baby. His life situation has changed and it's time for him to move on. The car was in the middle of a transition, which is why it's missing parts. It has not been neglected, it's been garaged this whole time. He has invested much of his life into this car and doesn't want to see it destroyed. MY INTERPRETATION from our discussion was that he was looking for an experienced Thirdgen hobbyist to take the car. Someone who knows what the car needs and how to get it going again. He was looking for assurance that the car would get back on the road again and be enjoyed. There are many of us here that have the knowledge and the means to fulfill that assurance. Chazman tipped me off and I happened to be the first guy in line.
I've had my Camaro since 1997, I got it when I was 16yrs old, it was my first car. Much of my high school and all of my adult life has involved this car. From road racing it, to getting busted by the cops making out in it with the girl who is now my wife. If something happened in my life that caused me to have to get rid of it and money wasn't a huge factor, you can bet I'd be HUGELY concerned with who it went to and how they would treat it. This situation isn't much different.....
Once the car gets here I'll start a build thread. Anyone got a T56 laying around?
