88 IROC-Z 355/T5/3.73s SOLD!!!!
For sale is an '88 IROC-Z. This car has been my daily driver for the past 2 summers, but I have 3 other thirdgens and need to thin the herd a little.
Car came from San Diego CA last summer, it is immaculate underneath. Last summer was it's first summer out of the desert.
Mods are as follows:
355, stock crank and rods. Trick flow heads, comp cam, crane rockers, super ram intake, Edelbrock headers.
World Class T5 (I swapped in) with new Pro 5.0 shifter, clutch is 1 year old.
Fairly fresh built rear axle (about 3k miles on it) new limited slip diff, moser axles, 3.73 gears, aluminum stud girdle, upgraded to aluminum PBR rear disc brakes (originally had the iron calipers)
Car has full mandrel bent 3” exhaust cat and muffler are 1 year old.
Subframe connectors, poly a-arm bushings, poly engine, trans and torque arm mounts.
Tires are 85% or better, center link and idler arm are 1 yr old.
Fuel pump, fuel pump relay are 1 yr old, brand new MSD ignition coil.
Car is a strong runner, it's a lot of fun with the 3.73s and a manual trans. Asking $7500 OBO

Re: 88 IROC-Z 355/T5/3.73s
Regardless of what everyone is saying about 1MeanZ's sexual orientation, I will affirm that this IROC is a very healthy, clean street car. Matter of fact, it made a 16 hr round trip in June (in Midwest summer heat) with no hiccups.

Who needs enemies with friends like this!? LOL
Yes this car is well sorted. I drove it down to Kansas City and back from north central Indiana to start the power tour. I drove it over to Detroit for work, I drive it everywhere.
Nearly everything on the car has been replaced, there are so many things it has that aren't listed above that I just forget about, so I'm just going to start listing stuff as I think of it. It has an MSD ignition coil, BBK 52mm throttle body. The O2 sensor, distributor, cap, rotor, MSD wires, plugs were all new this spring. It has the multi layer dead soft header gaskets so no more leaks, the valve covers and valve cover gaskets were new this spring too cuz the stockers were cut for rocker clearance and leaked. The clutch slave, master and the starter were new when I did the manual swap last summer. It has jegster subframe connectors that I extended up to the front bulk heads and welded in completely. The T-top seals and door seals are new. The drivers door was re-pinned, no more sagging. When I did the rear axle swap I put the later PBR aluminum calipers on the back along with the proper proportioning valve. The axle has relocation brackets. Car had an aluminum driveshaft from the factory and the u-joints are good and tight. Obvious to those that know me, it has a custom chip tuned by me (been tuning my stuff and stuff for others for 10 years now). It runs and drives like stock and gets about 22mpg on the highway. Nothing on this car is hacked anymore. It can use all stock sensors and the wiring and ECM are all stock as well so if there is ever a problem, it troubleshoots just like a stocker and parts are available at any parts store. I drive all my cars a lot and I make sure that they don't have wired stuff on them that can't be easily diagnosed, repaired or replaced.
Basically when I got this car it had issues and had been sitting for 7 years. The car was so clean and the motor so strong I decided to fix it. I started driving it daily working out all the bugs. It's to the point now where I'd drive it anywhere anytime.
The car has a clean title. 151k miles on the body. Motor has about 12k on it since built (I have all the receipts for the engine). I got the trans used so I don't know the miles, but it is a world class unit, it operates very quietly and shifts perfectly. The rear went in this year and only has about 4k miles on it (have the receipts for it too).
I'm selling because I want to free up some money for upgrades for the other cars I have, and I'd like to buy a dual sport motorcycle to play with. This has been a very difficult decision for me to make. I've spent a ton of time on this thing and it's well sorted. I love thirdgens and I'm really happy with the car, so it's hard to let it go, but I think it's the right choice.
