1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA, TPI 350 (5.7L), 700R4 4 speed auto, T Tops, Tan Leather Interior, Air Cruise Tilt, Power windows locks mirrors and hatch, Full gauge package, Alpine CD/iPod ready deck with iPod and USB cables. Not winter driven in the last 10 years.
The car has not been for a safety inspection and its not perfect. This is reflected in the price. New front disks and all pads are sitting ready to go in, I just have no time as of late.
Fast, get you noticed car. Fun to drive! Look no further for that summer fun car...
Motivated to sell... $4700 OBO

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
Time to wake this thread up.
I finally got myself a T/A like I've wanted since I was a kid. It's a 1990 Trans Am GTA. 5L m5.
Love it! Needs a tiny bit of work but I'm out driving it now! Wish the rain would go away so I can take the t-tops off!
Hoping to do an LS1 conversion in a year or 2.
You guys meet up every once and a while?

I agree we need to get this thread moving. If anyone wants a set of factory A-arms for their car, was off an IROC with 16" wheels, they can have them, send me a PM and you can arrange to pick them up, otherwise they are going in the trash

There hasnt been any organized cruises in a long time. I went to the last one set up on winnipeg heights that had 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gens and it was fun.

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
A cruise would be great..... I'd love to get into a BIG group of Third Gens...
Gotta get my exhaust finished though.... (Custom 3" Y-pipe)
Who besides me is learning the ins and outs of prom tuning?
I have a Autoprom and Tuner Pro RT.
Didn't have alot of time last summer to do much tuning and this summer is fading fast!!!!
The cops are making Sunday night cruising a pain in the a**!!!
I think that "enthusiastic driving" should be done late Saturday's when they aren't expecting it so much!!!

Yeah I'm having a hard time finding some interior trim pieces for the GTA.
On a different note, I'm told someone local to Winnipeg has done an LS1 swap in their third gen... Anyone know who? I'm curious about how much it ended up costing since it seems harder to find an LS1 around here lately.

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
I've seen the LS1 3rdgen at the old Coyotes on Pembina. Chatted him up for a while. Good guy. However i was intoxicated so i could have been looking at a Mustang with a Nissan engine for all i knew. On a side note i havent seen a good Fbody group since '04-05, there used to be tons of us out there. Some just got out or grew out of the car scene. Some are still stashed away in garage's and the likes mine included.

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
I did but never went back, all the car clubs I joined previous, where there to share ideas about your projects, getting together for club rides, the only thing I found with the Camaro clubs was just trying to get more money to the club or getting ready for world of wheels. As a brand new member I was not even introduced to the other people so you even feel welcome. I assume that everyone had a Camaro, but was not even sure because nothing came up about their cars.
In my opioion the club was a total waste of time.

Most clubs in the city function this way and quite frankly I have had my fill. I have met some good ppl and I don't regret joining. Having said that, having a majority of the members that have children the same age as you feels weird and somewhat unsettling.

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
I think some of us thirdgenners from MB should get together for a cruise. Meet somewhere and shoot the breeze. I can't speak for others but I'd be down for something like that. Maybe go to friday night racing at gimli.

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
I'm all over the Friday nite racing at Gimli!!!! Wanted to go, but my work schedule always got in the way...
I'm currently trying to find/buy a car trailer cause when I go I'm plannning on breaking things... haha
I don't wanna join a club that is always worried about $$$ or finding people to do things for them (or the greater good... I gave at the office) but I wouldn't mind seeing the Third Gen crowd together for a Cruise. I don't think there are enough of us representing out there...
I often feel like I'm the only one out there when I do go out...

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
hey boys! just wondering the best place to pick up new aftermarket suspension parts. looking to spend at least $1500 on parts just looking at my options. ive tryed softys and the prices were not too bad. does anyone order from hawks or summit. the consern for me is always shipping and having to wait around for parts. im going to have to send my parts to someones house that i know are home every day.
i plan on spending a few thousand buck for the next few years so id like to find a dealer this year.

Great suspension stuff.
As far as shipping goes I'll give you a little advice...
The shipping companies will charge you a arm and a leg in brokerage fees (Which is a technical way of saying "we paid your taxes at the border.... now there's interest!")
I've bought equipment out of the USA where approx 50% of the original price was added on as brokerage fees.
For example I'd by $200.oo of car parts from Summit and UPS would charge me another $80.oo for brokerage fees....
Now you can do one of two things....
1) This is what I do.... As soon as I get a Tracking Number I call UPS and tell them that I want to do my own Customs.... Believe me it's NO BIG DEAL!!!
I pick up my paper work at UPS on Route 90 and drive down to Wellington Ave 3 blocks away. I go to the Customs office pay my PST and GST (there's no duty for things produced within Canada, USA or Mexico) Then go back to UPS with my recept and take my stuff Home.... NO BROKERAGE FEES
2) On heavy equip where there is extra charges for weight - An engine or tires for example. I'll have the parts shipped to Mikes Parcel Pickup in Pembina North Dakota.
http://www.mikesparcelpickup.com/
It's only an hour away and you pay your PST and GST when you come back into Canada... NO BIG DEAL...
Now the ball is your court!
Happy Shopping

You can also try Mike at Sandale Fabrication, they are on Hwy 59 south. I buy most of my parts in the US, but Mike has gotten me better prices than the US considering shipping. I use Mike's parcel pickup in Pembina www.mikesparcelpickup.com , if fact I was just there on Wednesday last week, Summit, jegs, spohn, racecraft and hawks you can get all the suspension pieces you need. I bought alot of my front end Spohn pieces at TPI Parts, great people to deal with and racecraft. If you want some suggestion just PM and I will give you a contact number

Careful with some of the umi parts, there is a thread on here where the front mount broke off their torque arm because of poor welding, could you image going down the higway at 100kmh the mount breaks and contacts the road, your car would be flipping down the highway

My SFCs were made by Sandale. They work great, look good, tons of clearance. At the time, mine were $560 installed, taxes in.

Better make sure that your car is in tip top condition....
Hope your exhaust in't too loud, tint ain't too dark, Tires ain't too wide, car too low
The cops are hitting all of us these days...
I saw a licence plate at the drag strip couple weekends ago that said
"Friendly Manitoba, where customizing is illegal"
I'm working so I won't be out... Shrug
Good Luck

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
thanks for the heads up!
i remember about 10years ago when portage was fun! when we could see some old classics. Park and b.s about cars then drive to watch a few races, haha.
guess those days are over, im not into kids reving there little 1.6l at me. Listening to 4 different systems cranked. i have not been running a front plate for a few years now. Along with a few small things the cop might pick out.
maybe ill just stick to sunday afternoon cruise, maybe a car show or gimi.

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
Ya, I know what you mean...
Bought my GTA 17 years ago when I was 18
Brady Road was the Sunday nite race spot!!! Can't race anywhere now, due to the Helicopter in the sky... It can cross the whole city in 3 minutes!!!
Kildonan Park was always a riot... (Shut down due to Stereos)
You could cruise Portage Ave all night and wouldn't be bothered unless you were real stupid!!!
Now if anything is wrong with your car it's a ticket,
Running lights, Break lights, Turn signals better work.
Hope you're not running bright headlights....
Need both plates.... I got pulled over for not having a front one... It's still not on
Tint only on the rear windows, and no more than 35% (I think)
Ride height... not too high or too low.
Exhaust decibels...
Besides the fact that you can't even register your car unless it has an MPI immobilizer (Even though I have VATS, I haven't put permanent plates on in 3 or 4 years... because I won't put one in my car!!!)
The list goes on and on...
I hate Bureaucracy!!! It throws a damper on everything!!!

Re: Roll Call: Manitoba Members Step Inside!
Dan here from Winnipeg, Thought I would say hello. Not sure how old this thread is but its nice to see some Winnipegers on here. I have a 1987 Camaro Coupe dark blue with grey interior, it has a 2.8L and 5spd in it but that wont be in there long. I have a 5.7 out of a 79 silverado that is going to go in there after a few "adjustments" and the addition of a T56 out of a fourth gen. (if i can find one) I'm also looking for some body parts, I need a front and rear bumper from a z28/iroc/rs and side skirts. Anyone know of a good source in Winnipeg area or near by???
Thanx,
Dan

Welcome aboard BigDan, check on the parts board for people selling parts, I have not seen a lot of third gen items for sale in the City, I will check with a friend, he has 4 3rd gens, 2 are parts car and see if he has anything. I have never bought body parts, no need, so I am not a great source of info for this, you can check ebay as well
