So do you guys know where there are any camaro's forsale around in NS? I have looked at a lot, but most are rotted out, or very steep in price... if you have any leads to some around please post a phone number. (I am in looking in the 1000-2K range) So something that is fixable.

(I don't expect I nice Zed or Iroc, just a SC or RS that the paint is rough, or needs some mechanical work.)

Hey I'm Rob from Halifax. I'm looking for some help with some cooling issues with my two camaro's. I have two 91 z28's one black coupe and a red convertible and they both run hot at stop lights but on the highway run great. I have read many posts about what to do but would like someone around here who has some knowledge about these cars to maybe take a look and help a fellow maritimer out. Thanks Rob

That wouldn't cause him to overheat at stoplights, airdam is mainly for cooling at highway speeds.

Only thing I can think of is your fan(s) aren't working properly or your thermostat is screwed up.

Yeah I'm gonna look into maybe putting in a better thermostat and possible change the rad and double check the fans. Do you guys know of a good rad company that will still fit in the stock place because one of my cars is supercharged and I don't have room for a bigger rad just want one more efficient than stock. Thanks for the help guys.

What do your Radiators look like? I am thinking that maybe your low on fins, perhaps almost half the rows are missing. If that is the case your car will overheat at stop lights, but once you get moving they will cool back down.

Are there many 3rd gens up there??? About the only ones I saw was a couple battered ones in Halifax a nice 92 for sale on our way driving up to the Miramichi and one on a pole at at place in Miramichi....

....why so few out there....the salt rot them all years ago??

You got the answer right there. I sold my 87 firebird 2 years ago, and I saw it rolled up on its side last weekend, that car was gone underneath. I have looked at quite a few cars around here and there are very few that are solid underneath, and those that are have had the floors and the metal over the rear control arm pockets gone over ususally. Plus a section of the frame where the transmission bolts is usually been replaced. I looked at an 87 camaro that had more patches in the floor, then it had floor.

Salt kills these maritime cars.

Need a few pointers on a door problem I am having. Nothing (interior / exterior door handles) works! Anyone ever have a similar problem? Seems like it might be the latch but I haven't taken her apart yet but plan on doing it this weekend.

Great! Managed to fix the problem with a whole lot of aggravation but at least didn't have to buy a new door latch.

First things first, get the car out of storage in May. I've got a couple of plans for the car in the next year or two. Need to get a small hole in the floor repaired, then she needs a new coat of paint. After the paint job, I'm getting the hood airbrushed.

Nice to see that there is still someone "alive" in this thread!

91babybluebird - Let me know when you're ready to have the car painted, provided you haven't already lined up a paint shop.. I'm the painter at Truman's Auto..

As for plans for my car, well, I just picked up my CE 8 point roll cage, have a th400, Hughes tranny rebuild kit, 8.5 10 bolt with a 3.08 posi, 3000 stall, LW DS loop, and some other misc. items to put in this spring..

I want to make it to test and tune at the Mirimachi raceway this year.. Hoping to get as many runs as the engine will handle..

Cheers,

Car: Two 91 Z28's
Engine: Both 305's one Supercharged
Transmission: T-5 and Auto
I'm still kickin around but I bought an SRT-4 last fall so I have been working on making that go fast. I think I will keep the Z28 in storage this summer it needs a little tranny work and a few other things to get it road worthy and don't have the cash right now but plans for next summer for the road again. Hope to see a few 3rd gens kickin around this spring and summer so if you see a blue SRT-4 around say hi as I'm always interested in meeting people with 3rd gens.

Hey Botlfed, how much does a paint job typically cost at your shop? All the clear peeled off mine plus I will need it painted once I put the Z28 GFX on it (when I find some).

Well, it really depends on quite a few factors.. Type of paint (base clear or acrylic), time of year (busy or slow), and condition of the car (holes, rust, dents, peeling, etc).. I would say you're looking at a min of 1k for a complete at the shop.. Supplies cost a fortune these days.

I'm starting to do a few cars on the side, which could save you some money.. I've already got my friends monster miata lined up for early spring as well as a swift that is a drag only car..

Here is a pic of my car that I did this last summer, if you haven't already seen it..

I wouldn't mind you doing my car on the side by the looks of that, I am not a prefectionist. I just want it to look decent and run good. Someday when I pay off my student loan I will go for the perfect restoration.

My car has very little rust which is why I bought it, other than the floors which have all been redone now very, very solid, I just wish they were done cleaner (better welds and grinding).

I would want it base/clear but I single stage may be an option for the summer. I want it midnight blue, white, or hawaiaan orchid (purple metallic) but I have to wait for my sketch artist (girlfriend) to do some renditions.

Engine: 305 H.O.

I say you go with midnight blue.
Purple metallic

BOTLFED: How much did you pay for that hood?? And is your exhaust street legal??

And where would be the cheapest place arround for performance parts? Carb, Mags, Tires..

Last question, where could I get a full lock rear end?? Junk yard? I have "unlimited slip" and don't really want to weld it.

The hood is an 82 fiberglass unit that I added a 2" cowl to that I lengthened 12 inches.. I then raised it 2 inches more to clear my bonnet better..

The exhaust is a grey area really. The MVI book shows an overview of a vehical with a cross-hatched area starting at the firewall and going down the side of the car along the window lines.. As long as the exhaust exits this area, it is legal.. I haven't had any problems with the law tho, they are pretty reasonable as long as you aren't one of those tards that drives like a tard all the time.. They watch, and they know...

Cheers,
