man I hate politcally correctness... but anyways, does anyone know what the secret is to stopping the rattles? They become highly aggrivating.

well i know one huge problem is the licence plate and the plastic just behind it. Try to find a way to put some padding behind it and a few of those rattles should stop. Also a place where i would have never guessed that a rattle would come from... the third brake light ( mine is on the inside, 92 camaro) It wasnt screwed in tight enough and would make this little annoying rattle.

I fixed the license plate a long time ago with a piece of rubber hose ... my biggest complaint is the part where the lock is on the back... that entire peice rattles like a sob... if I put my hand on it real firm it sounds good... otherwise its as I noted b4...

you mean the shade thingy? haha no its no just a z28 think my mom's ex had a rs with one, he also had a bazooka underneath the amps, made a good conceler for the stuff yep he had it in there for 4 years before it got stolen

I didn't know that would work very well, but that's be best place I can think of!

I didn't even think about trying that... but I do know, that when they jacked all my stuff from my car, my rear seat was leaning forward, I guess they were just checking... but without recessing the amp, it won't fit... and I don't want a hole in a gas tank

Heres my setup.

My Bass box uses the entire depth of the rear, and is split into 2 with a partition down the middle to provide 2 separate air tight sections for each sub.

I had this setup for 3 weeks now and im considering dropping in two 3" ports for a few more db's !!.

after my last box got soaked (bad weatherstripping. that got fixed quick), i'm working on a new ported box. i got 90% done with one when i realized my sub would not fit it as well as i want it to. its looking like there wont be enough space between the back of the magnet and the wall (the sub was going to fire toward the back and be hidden). i may still give it a shot, or just end up giving the thing away and building another one.

i got an mtx thunderform from bernies at their clearence sale for 27.95, it was made fro 1998-2001 ford ranger trucks, i threw it in the back of my bird facing down, towards the floor pan, and i tell u it hit almost as hard as my jl power wedge that has 3 10's in it, basically using the box facing dopwn i turn the back half of the car as a band pass enclosure, it sounds good, i mean i get compliments all the time, i even have gotten accused of having 2 12"s in my hatch , but every time i show them what i have they r in disbelieve,lol, i love it, hey need for speed, any takers on that old box of urs? if not i will take it off ur hqands

Simple setup. I used marine vinyl as it stand up better to the sun and weather than regular vinyl. Lanzar Vibe250 pushing two Audiobahn aw1200x subs. I like the way my subs looked so i inverted them. Had to modify the box to compensate for teh extra height. .9cuf/sub ~50% fiberfill. Yes... I know it looks ultimate conventional. and yes it is quite loud.

isn't the sound a bit more muffled with the subs protruding like that? I can see that a benefit would be a tad bit more box volume as a result, plus the looks, but I would think that they would hit the hatch almost

Inverting the subs has very very little to no difference in sound (given your average sub design). I can replace subs just as easy and rewire them even easier.

The bottom of the subs actually touch the hatch when fully closed. My subs actually played twice as loud this way with the extra needed airspace meaning a more efficient power>sub ratio. SQL/SPL are top notch. Hitting ~137-142.1 avg on the dash (yes in a sealed box and weather always seemed to play a big part).

I also have 2-3 layers all over the trunk of generic dynamat from the shipyard my friend worked at. Deadener is key to great sound especially in a camaro. The latch part is bolted in place packed with universal grease (the white kind) and also wrapped in the deadener. The only thing I cant seem to "unrattle" is my driver side t-top.

it hasnt over heated because of it being in there, its awesome... it has more airflow than youd think. Id put glass over it but i know my friends, theyll break it. Plexiglass rather...

the guided USED to be in the tech sections but i guess its gone now...

Thanks man. I think it sounds great, but I might be a little biased. The paint matches a little better in person. For some reason I didn't want it to be gloss so I just used flat white. Could be temporary though when/if I repaint my car

Your car was alot of the insparation that went into mine when i built my car up.

MurcoRS- Vents on the outer sides of the dash was an option in some camaros. Mine doesnt have them eather.

Got a couple Jensen boxes in my Blazer. Speaker is totally enclosed with a window to show the front, sound comes from two ports on top. Sort of a band pass deal, but sounds really good with not a lot of power driving them. Thinking of measuring one up and building a similiar setup for the Camaro. Nothing would be showing but the port openings in the carpeted trunk well cover. Thieves are running wild around here, most of what you guys are showing would get your window smashed and equipment gone in a day or two.

I think that's a great idea, having the woofers firing downward, and the port firing upward... because I like to put my t-tops over my subs in the back of my bird, and I'd swear I get twice the bass once they are covered... and it sounds better too... very strange...

I've been thinking about getting one, maybe two 10" subwoofers (I listen to metal -- bass is important, but it's not everything) and building a box that would sit like yours and aim backwards, but also be camoflauged with gray carpet to blend in with the rest of the car.

Just wondering, how does it sound with the speakers aimed backwards? For a while (because I don't have any sound system in the car at all right now, the previous owner had a sub setup but the whole thing got stolen) I was using a portable stereo in the trunk area, pointed backwards, and it sounded pretty good.

It sounds better than my old set up that was aimed forward, but I'm sure that is because of the different boxes. I have heard (I'm not saying it's true or not) that for cars like ours, it is better to aim them backwards so the sound will "bounce" off of the back glass or something like that. Now this isn't my words, just something I read somewhere a long time ago. Anyone heard anything like this before?

That would be really slick if you could wrap it in matching carpet, like the subs are coming up out of the floor.

DD = VERY LOUD. There was a kid around here who had a single 15 DD and an insane amount of power in a cavy and hit 155 with it. it was nuts.

How do you make a ported sub box? I want to make one for a pair of 12" MTX Thunder4000's (Wal-mart crap, i know, but I'll be upgrading "soon"); are they just holes in the box or is there more engineering to them?

since i took the pics iv finished wiring it up and my *** it pumps. oh and can you spot the stereo surround trim panel ? well as you can see it dont fit, gues where i got it ? fbodymotorsports, long story cut short they sent the wrong one(to the uk ) and refused to give my money back and told me to put it on ebay grrrr.
