Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
Why not just buy one that's been modified already?

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
The first thing is differences between 7$ for this module and 195$ for that complete radio is quite big. The second thing is that if buy radio from ebay you don`t have thirdgen looking radio anymore. The third thing is you must have external mp3 player, with this radio you get only wire minijack and aux socket.

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
If you think that thing will look stock you're kidding yourself. Good luck trying to install it.
Looks like you'll have to cut up the faceplate of your stock radio to get that circuit board in so it will mount flush. The YouTube video sounded terrible. That 4th gen radio looks more stock than that thing is going to look and sound a 100 times better, You get what you pay for.

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
thats your opinion
I`ve already installed it in two cars and works great, what you see on last pic is already assembled
You don`t have to cut anything. I designed front plexi and cut it on laser
Old phone and dark place, I will record it better camera
Why do you think it will work better than this? The 4th gen radio looks like a crap.

I think it's cool. I have a background in car audio install and can appreciate your work. If you're looking to keep the stock radio it's certainly one option. My only issue is that there are better resources available such as an istreamer.

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
I went and picked up a 4th gen radio from a 2001 Camaro that has the CD changer option. I then picked up a GM-AUX9 adapter which as an input for my IPOD. This adapter plugs into the harness behind the radio and uses the CD changer option to run it. So when I want to listen to my ipod, I just switch to the CD changer mode on the radio. The only modifiations that needed to be done were to enlarge the radio faceplate to fit the newer radio which has a slightly larger face, and drill new bolt holes because the ones for the 4th gen stereo aren't in the exact same location. They're hidden though so you don't see them.

I built that to not have an external device such an ipod connected via aux. I used that solution for last 9 years.

cut on CNC plexi 2mm of the front window, if someone is interested email me I have file with that window
take off push buttons
take off the top cover
unscrew the tuner PCB
unplug the wire which have plug, the rest wires just cut
glue the holders on back side of front mask (holders come with mp3 module)
cutoff VFD display (in my radio - red wires)

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
you count from front of radio
I connect only left and riight via 1uF capacitor to protect the module
You don`t need to use ground

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
Hi!
Thank you very much.
I also have such a mp3 board, the only problem is that you can´t switch between the folders. So i search for a long time for another sound modul that i can use with this radio.
thanks

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
That is really cool, the only thing that bothers me is to cut through the original faceplate. The red screen is perfect for a Pontiac.
I guess the USB ports could be removed from the PCB and placed somewhere else at the end of some wires. And I could do without the card reader.
Or, seeing how it's made, simply wire the screen and glue it on the back of the original one, and place the rest of the unit wth the buttons and USB/card slots in place of the ashtray for example.
Do you think you could make a clear schematic to explain how you wired it to the original radio ?

USB port can be removed but in car there is a lot of noises from electrical instalation of the car so that could be a problem
What conections are you interested ? Power, Audio, push buttons ?

Re: Original Delco Radio with MP3 module
Hi everyone. I just want to inform you that radio is still working. I made some other modifications for my friends and they are happy with that.
Last time I swaped into LT1 engine and made some modifications to speedometer. I`m using two stepper motors to make it working. Odometer is working also. It is no longer powered mechanical
During the tests
And after crash of transmission I made a little OLED display connected to ALDL connect which show me temperature of transmission
