Re: 1986 factory CD player????

The 86 Order Work Sheet does not list any CD Radios for 86,so I would have to say NO,BUT,they may have made that Option available later as the build year progressed.Me personally!I've never seen one.Did they even have CD's in 86??

Re: 1986 factory CD player????

that is a '90s delco CD player-actually does look nice and originalI think it was mid-'89 when factory CD players became avalible in thirdgens.CDs were introduced in late-'82 ,but it wasn't until about late '85 CDs and affordable players started to become more avalible.

You could get a CD player in 86, the difference between the 86 and the 90's CD player is 90s is gray and 86 is black. I have one. Early CD had 4 arrow button and newer style had two ***** on left

It is not stock for your car. I believe 89 was the first year the cd payer was offered. It is indeed a early 90's Pontiac CD player, just not stick for car. Never the less it looks good like it belongs there.

Re: 1986 factory CD player????

Well hey....then by that rationale this Theftlock CD player is stock for the GP dash I'm putting in my 80 Monte project, right? I actually like how later model GM CD players look right at home in older cars.

Re: 1986 factory CD player????

cd players..not untill the 90's...

when i was looking at buying my camaro new in 91 the cd player was just coming out in the Z28.. im sure the other GM cars did the same thing..

(as i remember)
and the 89 chevy truck i orderd new did not list a cd player in things i could get. only a casset player with the AC
and cloth seats (still have the truck also)
but when i orderd my 92 Z28. i got it with the CD player..that was 1991.. when orderd..

Re: 1986 factory CD player????

Went through my brochures and yeah, 89 was the first year a CD player was available in the third gen.

There were earlier Delco CD decks but never stock in the third gens. Could have been dealer installed possibly.
