Kickers?
Has anyone installed Kicker CS694 6x9 for rear speakers and/or Kicker 41DSC464 4x6 for dash speakers with a stock radio? Or any kind of Kicker speakers? I'm replacing all of my speakers and Kicker seems to be a good way to go but Im not sure how they'd sound in my Trans Am.

Re: Kickers?
I installed the 4x6 components in my Bronco.
1 set 4x6 doors and tweeters front
1 set 4x6 rear passenger sides
Fronts and rear sides powered by a 4 channel 250 watt Kicker Amp.
2 10" subs powered by a separate 500 watt Kicker amp.
Can you say BASS!!??!! Clean Crisp and clear! Very happy with Kicker!
But aftermarket Head Unit.....ALPINE.
But, go to Keyaudio.com for better sounding "Stock" speakers.

Re: Kickers?
I'm looking more for clean sound quality than bass. How do you think they would act without an amp?

Re: Kickers?
Edit: Always use an amp, if possible. It doesn't have to be big, as referenced above you can use 250 watt amp accross 2-4 speakers. Me, I have an amp for each set. 250 watt for my fronts/highs, 500 watt for my 6x9's, and 2000 watt for my subs.

Re: Kickers?
OK.......Let me re-phrase.......
ANY aftermarket speaker you use to replace the crappy stock 6x9s in the sail and the 4x6s in the dash are gonna sound much better WITH THE STOCK UNIT.
As padak mentioned, Infinity (kappa line) or Alpine (type S) speakers are awesome. I have the Alpine line in my 88, BUT, all aftermarket equipment, and it sounds great.
Keeping the stock unit in there and finding "good, clean sounding speakers" may be a little difficult.
But yes, change to a better speaker and it will sound "better"....
Make any sense??

Re: Kickers?
Most likely underpowered, no amp isn't going to give it less bass, just less power. If you are looking for clean & Quality sounds, you will pay a little more. I would look into Infinity (kappa line) or Alpine (type S) speakers. These are middle ground speakers, far from junk, but not top of the line, if that makes sense. I have used both in different vehicles, no issues.

I love it!!!!
At my age, people look at me as I'm driving with Def Leppard blaring and thumping.
Gotta have the watts, man! Never know when you'll need it! It's like horsepower, just in case!

Re: Kickers?
I agree, the only thing I run off the head unit is the tweeters since they require little power. I also buy bigger amps than I need because you can turn them down.. it's better to have too much power than not enough.

Re: Kickers?
there is not going to be any good sounding speakers with the stock HU. those just sound like junk, and if you are putting out junk the speakers play junk, no matter if they are 20 dollars or 200. the headunit is the first thing i throw out in every GM, even the new ones i have. even a 100 dollar sony or something sound 2 times better than the 80s delcos

I have those Kicker 4x6 CS464 with a small amp and I think for a 4x6 they sound good. They will play at a much louder volume than I want to hear them at.

Re: Kickers?
I just recently replaced the two dash speakers with the Kicker 4x6's. The sound is good, but nothing compared to the Infinity Kappa's. I agree with the others, that you really won't get the best sound out of the original head unit. So if you are staying stock, save some money and buy the mid grade speakers. They will sound way better than the old factory ones.

Re: Kickers?
Question can anyone tell me the speakers they use for the dash and back speakers? I would like to put kickers in but if there's a better speaker for bass and crisp sounds I would like to know!
Thanks

Re: Kickers?
You can use kicker in a 4x6 and 6x9 with a small amp and they will do fine. I also like the infinity and jbl. You will be happy with either of those three brands provided you have a decent head unit and an amp. If you don't want to use a small amp stick with stock replacement or stock specd aftermarket stuff.
