1990 firebird formula after market radio installation
So i tried to put a new radio in did not work. I took the factory radio out and bought one of the scosche adapters and spliced everything together and plugged the new radio in and it did not turn on. Probably because when i checked to make sure the adapter fit my wiring harness the red wire touched metal and sparked. I have checked the fuses under the dash they look good. and the fuse in the radio is good. I plugged the old radio back in and it does not turn on either. all i get is white noise from the old one. Everything else electrical seems to work. I do not know what else to check.

White Noise, my guess would be a bad antenna cable or it is not plugged in...
Just a guess..

Well the white noise comes on if i just plug the speaker wires to the old radio the power is the problem. I dont know if maybe the ground wire is not grounded or maybe theres an inline fuse i cant see

I guess I do not understand... You are getting sound from the radio, you get white noise... that is a sound... So power does not seem to be the problem. Just saying...

iI get what youre saying but the display of my old radio does not come on. I tested the harness and i get power to the ignition but not the constant wire .. the i plugged it up to the new radio and i tested to see if there was power to the fuse in the back of the new radio but there wasnt. which makes me think the radios bad but that doesnt explain the old radio not turning on

You will need to see why you don't have the constant 12v. There might be another fuse inline like you said before. To test the radio hook it straight to the battery. Just connect the constant 12v and the switch 12v to the battery and then your ground and see if the radio comes on.
