Sub encloser spare tire
I was wondering if anyone has put a sub in the spare tire compartment. I am looking to do his didn't know if there was any on the market or if I had to build one. Also how big of a encloser do I need for a 10' and a 12' just trying to see what would fit there. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance

Re: Sub encloser spare tire
The enclosure size is dictated by the sub itself and if that particular sub is going to be sealed or ported (leaving out bandpass, hyper hard in that application). I had a mock up once out of fiberglass. It was formed to the inside wrapping around the tire well and using the entire area. It would stick out of the side and mounted to 3/4 in mdf. The sub would essentially be out so far as to not even be inside the well, but was not far enough to overlap into the deep well. It sat on that intermediate part of the trunk well. Was years ago, got rid of the car when I moved. Do some research on 'glass subs, if you get it done, post some pics, you could even make a build thread out of it like this 'glass box.

I currently have a custom made Fiberglass box in my Iroc tire well area. It has a 12 inch kicker in it. Hits really hard. I'll have to post pics when I get home.

It is Ugly I know but it gets the job done. It is rock hard too. It's a very tight fit almost wedged in that space.

That's not bad at all. That comp sub looks awfully familiar...oh, mines the same one!! Now I might have to revisit the glass route...thanks . Now OP knows how it's done.

Ill try to see if i can get pics of it out of its slot. It's a pain in the *** removing. The panel does fit over it but the bottom of the panel where it meets the carpet gets in the way. The sub kind of sticks out a small amount and sits on the lip.

Did you do that yourself or did you have it made? If you had it made, how much did it run you?

I found it on ebay luckily. I've had it for a few yrs now. I think i paid about $400 shipped. I was told it would probably cost close to a G to have it custom made. I still haven't seen anyone with anything close to it. I want the car to be as close to being 1 of a kind.
