79 Cadillac deville
Hi there I don't know if anyone can help me. But I have a 79 Cadillac deville that in trying to connect a aftermarket radio too, I wired up the new harness to the existing harness and no luck it won't turn on, there is a separate yellow wire that came with my harness but not sure where that goes exactly, but when I hotwire it to my battery the radio comes on but drains my battery any suggestions

Re: 79 Cadillac deville
I found this after doing a Google search:
The yellow wire is positive (+) and is your stereo's memory connect it to a wire that always have voltage even if you turn the ignition off that way the time clock and your favorite stations won't be erased every time you turn your stereo off (you can connect it to the positive wire that goes to the back of your cigarette lighter this wire has voltage all the time even with the ignition off)
NOTE-never connect the red and yellow wires together it won't damage your stereo but if you connect them to a positive (+) wire that has voltage even with the ignition off your stereo won't shut off when you turn your ignition off.
if you connect red and yellow together to a wire that has voltage (+) only when you turn your ignition on your stereo will erase the time clock and your favorite stations every time you turn your ignition off.
THAT'S WHY YOU CAN'T CONNECT THEM TOGETHER!
