sub woofer question
i have a soundstream xta600.5 amplifier. it is a 5 channel amp the 5th channel for the subs is rated at 1x120 4ohm stereo, or 1x240 2ohm stereo, or 1x240 4ohm bridged. i am looking at getting new subs for it would i want to go with a dual 4ohm voice coil or a dual 2ohm voice coil or a single voice coil

Re: sub woofer question
dual 2 ohm in parallel is 1 ohm... too low, could damage amp.
dual 2 ohm in series is 4 ohm.. works fine.
dual 4 ohm in parallel is 2 ohms... works fine.
dual 4 ohm in series is 8 ohms... too high, poor output.

Re: sub woofer question
A bit confusing...
You stated the 5th Channel (1 channel)... stereo signal being run into 1 / mono signal.
Then you stated your options...
1x120 4ohm stereo, or 1x240 2ohm stereo, or 1x240 4ohm bridged.
First 2 options make sense, but option 3... You need another channel to "bridge" it.... so is the 5th channel 1 single channel or 2 (6th channel)???
If it's one single, go with 1 dual 4 ohm voice coils, wire them in parallel @ 2ohm's and 240 watts...

240 w is not a lot of power for two subs.
