Totally dumb with installation of speakers

About two years ago when I bought my JVC cd player they gave me some free JBL 6 and 1/2 speakers . I never installed them b/c lack of knowledge .How do I do this guys ? Is it just a matter of un-hooking the old wires and hooking them on the new speakers ? Thanx guys !

almost that easy.

You will probably have to cut the factory wiring harness, then solder the new wires (that came with the speakers) to the factory wires (positive to positive, negative to negative) and then plug them into the speakers.

Before you do anything, remove all paneling and see 1) If the new speakers will fit and 2) if any modification is required (I.e. do the mounting holes line up or do you need to drill new ones).

Since you didn't give any more specifics, I hope this helps.

Usually, yes, it is just that simple. But our cars do not have 6.5" speakers. Many people are using 6.5" speakers in the front (kickpanels) or the rear (by making a plate). If you wanted to put them in the back you could just cut a 6"x9" oval with a 6.5" hole in it to put the speaker in. Do you have aftermarket front or rear speakers? If not you could put those speakers in the back and get some matching 4x6's to go up front, but if they were free they are probubly not going to be the best speakers and may not be worth your time.

If you want better sounding speakers just go to the store, set a budget, and pick the ones you like best in your price range. Installing speakers is very easy in our cars, so just do it yourself.
