Holley Carb

Has anybody had look with rebuilding a holley carb?

Model-#4175, 650 cfm, spreadbore.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-37-396

this is the kit I was recommended to buy.

Just got a 86 and tuning the engine up, wanting to clean all the ports up on intake and change intake gaskets, clean carb up soak & rebuild kit, and change valve covers and gaskets.

Any suggestions, thanks in advance

Re: Holley Carb

they're not too hard to rebuild.

i'm not too sure that you picked out the correct rebuild kit though? i know you cant go by pics, but that looks like a kit for a 2 barrel?

maybe one of these is more correct?

Hey your right. thanks for pointing that out. Im going to order one try it out. I recently bought the car and wanted to touch everything up under the hood, im also guessing if a holley carb is on it would be a after market intake as well?

Re: Holley Carb

do you have any pics or part numbers? that would help identify what ya got.

i suggest buying a book on rebuilding/tuning/tricking holley carbs. most auto parts stores or book stores have them fairly cheap. write down the changes you make for future reference in the book.
theres also a good thread/sticky on here by Sofa about tuning holleys.

valvecovers are personal prefference i suppose.

are you saying that your planning on gasket matching the intake to the heads by "cleaning up the ports" ? or a suspected vacuum leak? etc?
