Scammers

Here's two that tried to get me, and after I specifically stated in the response emails to them...

"Also, I will not ship this car to your "client" in New Zealand or Nigeria, or anywhere else, so please don't try that scam, Don't mean to sound like a jerk, and I'm not saying that I think you are going to try that scam, but it's just that people have already tried and its getting old. Thank you and I hope we can make a deal on this car! "

And yet they still tried...

Question... I have been talking to this guy for the past few days about selling my car... i have made it very very clear that i am going to wait for his check to clear before i send any money out to any shipper or anything like that. He says that's fine this and that... so when he sends "payment" to me, how do i make sure that this is not a phony check? or something like that?? adam smith <smithkline7@yahoo.ca> that is his information anyone heard anything about this guy?

If anyone who is real good at this "scam detecting" thing can u please IM me on AIM at Little Muir i just wanna make sure that i dont get arrested for possession of false M.O.'s or anything like that seeing how i'm on probation and i'm all set with a scam putting me back in jail....

The thing is i'm asking 1700$ for my car and this guy says 1700 is fine, and he'd be looking up how much shipping is... this way he will just include it in the check and after i let the check CLEAR! his shipper will recieve the money... how do i safeguard myself from being ****ed over??

Word of advice : drop these clowns like hot rocks. I have inside news that I can't disclose a lot of but you do not want to have checks sent to you , especially from Nigeria. Let's just say somebody in the federal gov't is now taking notice and there is some action being taken .These overseas shippers are totally fake. Even if the check clears , it can still come back later as fake. Tell them you will ONLY accept a Western Union payment , nothing else. I guarantee you'll never hear from them again.

Wow glad I read this! He says that he is sending a "cheque" for 7000 and the sale price was only 2000. Should I send the check to law enforcement when I get it? Thanks everyone for posting and saving me a lot of trouble.

they all sound the same, i had one a while back when i was tryin to sell a camaro. they usually don't seem too interested in details about the item, which is odd when your shopping for a car, muchless long distance? you won't see these people come look at a car, or any kind of delivery service. and would you send someone more money than the asking price of something you wanted to buy and ask for some of it back? just doesn't make sense. they also seem to use very common names and unusual email services, probably because they have to create so many aliases.

Just tell him you'd like cash or a Western Union, if he is willing to send u those then you might be all set.

I also read that you can call the postal inspector (not sure local or federal) but call and ask if the M.O. you got is valid or not

Today i received two more emails and both of them mention London, UK.. These scam artists are starting to **** me off. Here is what he wrote:

Thanks for the email.I am glad to know the Car is still for sale and in good condition. I have seen the pics and want us
to proceed.
Your price is fine with me So, I need you to remove
the ad
from the web... at the
moment am on vacation to London, UK.
Regarding payment I will instruct my Personal
Assistant to issue a check of $17000 as payment.
This amount is more than your price, so as you get it,
you are to deduct your money and send the rest to my
shipping agent via western union. The shipping fee is
high though, cause there are other items that will be
shipped along.
This is his fees to come pick up from your
location and he will come as soon as he has the funds.
So I will need your information to issue and mail the
check payment to you as soon as possible.:
FULL NAME................
STREET...................
CITY.................
STATE................
ZIP CODE............
PHONE NUMBER...............
Try to get the Title and Bill of sale ready ;Will be
waiting for your favourable reply .
Write back soon so we can proceed.

Fred Jones.

His email: wrt1fred@yahoo.com

and another James Bond has contacted me with this text:

Sorry for the late response, actually,am buying the car for a client of mine who is based in the uk.so,what you will do for me m now is send more pics of the car to me,so that i can i forward them to my client, also, approximate the money in us dollars and tell me your mode of payment.
Bryan.

and his email is: bryan_manaman@yahoo.com

I sincerely doubt they are from England. If you could get the IP from the header , I'll bet it points to a different area of the world.

Am Rod Cooker I have a client who is interested in buying your
item,he informed me that the payment will be remmited via a
cashiers check.is the price you listed for the item firm() In
order to conclude the deal as soon as possible, the cashiers
check or us money order that will be sent to you will include
the money for the sales of your item and the shippers fees for
organising a home pick up service. You do not need to worry as my
shipping company will come to pick the item up from your base
for shipment. What I want to clarify is that will you be able to
send the shipping charges to the shipping agent through Western
Union Money Transfer method as soon as you get and cash the
check and you deduct the money for the sales of your item?If you
agree to assist in thiscapacity , send your full name,
Thanks regards,
cooker

Here's what you do:
Tell the scumbag that you will accept the "cheque" and cash it immediately but he must overnight it to you or the deal is off. Use a friends P.O. box . Explain to him you are leaving town and won't be back for a bit so he has to overnight it or wait on his money. This will cost this jerkwad a fortune and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you got one over on him. These idiots are just stupid enough to fall for this ,too. As soon as you get it , burn that sucker !

Okay, I just read this thread. It seems the commonality between all of these is this. The shipper company. If the US Gov't isn't allowed to go after the persons, why can't we at least block funds from US to the Shipper company (or companies)? There can only be so many ways of getting money to a limited number of addresses / accounts, correct? Plus this has been performed on enough people that the banks are sure to know accounts that the money has been sent to... Sure they can open more accounts, but are the owners of the accounts also constantly changing?

Anyone know why?

Just remember that these dirtbags are liars and thieves. There's never been a single case of any email recipient ever getting any money from this sort of thing. Besides , if you had a million ,bazillion dollars , are you gonna send out random emails to illicit someone's help? Nope , me either.
