For sale Convertible Subwoofer Boxes

How many people would be interested in a convertible subwoofer enclosure? I just made a one off, and was wondering if I should make more. It would fit a single 10" subwoofer and can be covered in black, gray, or tan vinyl. The price would be around $130. This isn't a for sale ad, just testing the waters.

Even though this picture is of the box in a hatch, it will sit the same here as it would in a trunk of a convertible.

Re: For sale Convertible Subwoofer Boxes

That is how I mounted my 10" and hid the amp under the same "shelf". One end is the speaker enclosure; the other is the amp cove. The result is a single, smooth floor to the trunk space that fits flat in that well space.

Easy to make and cheap. I think you are very high on the expected price of $130. Mine cost me about $25.

Thanks for the input. The full size enclosures I build have an amp cove like you are talking about.

I also forgot to include that the box is built out of 3/4th" MDF that is Liquid nailed and screwed together, then caulked making an air tight enclosure. That price includes shipping aswell.

Re: For sale Convertible Subwoofer Boxes

I also used 3/4" MDF, screwed and glued. it has held up nicely over about 15 years. I covered the exposed MDF with excess black carpet from when I replaced the interior carpet in the rest of the car.

Good luck reproducing yours for anyone that doesn't want to loose their whole trunk to a sub. I can still put my golf clubs in and it sounds pretty good! There are lots of people out there that would probably buy your design - even some coupe people.

Re: For sale Convertible Subwoofer Boxes

What you show there would not be Convertible specific, I do not know why it would not work for any 3rd Gen.

John

Actually what I would like is something to hide behind the panels so you do not lose what little room there already is.

Re: For sale Convertible Subwoofer Boxes

So, how much would you be willing to pay for a drop in box shaped like the factory piece on the left (assuming you would want to keep the spare)? And how many others would be interested?

That box will fit in both, a coupe and convertible. I posted it here since I believe it's a great solution for those with convertibles that don't want to loose too much trunk space.

I'm also working on a setup that does go behind the plastic peices. Hopefully the rain will hold off tomorrow and I can finish one. Ill post it when I'm done.

I don't think replying to a thread from 2013 will help achieve that goal.

A box made of 3/4" MDF that was made to fit the air requirements of two 15" woofers would ensure that your convertible no longer had a trunk and the shipping on the box would be horrendous.

Only made one for my car - never did any others and that was about 25 years ago. Did you really mean to send this to me?
