Autoform complete kit removed value
I have an opportunity to buy a complete (per the owner) Autoform kit removed from a 84 Firebird. It appears to be complete with the top too. He has pics of the parts on the car before removal and also took measurements.
What is something like this valued at?
How hard are these to install?
Thanks for your input.

I'd guess its actually not worth much of anything unless you found the specific buyer. If you were able to locate someone who was a fan of the autoform verts and had a lot of time/money/tools at their disposal you could probably get a good amount for it. Otherwise your only buyer is going to be the kids that buy a $200 car and try to cut T-Tops into it.

Re: Autoform complete kit removed value
If that's the BLUE one the guy was selling from somewhere in New York, It wasn't complete and the car was a rusty P O S...Plus he wanted about $2-$3 grand at the time. Good Luck with that one. I sold a rusty 84 Autoform to a guy who had alot of money. He bought a 84 15th to make a Autoform convertible, which they never produced; just one 83 Daytona 500 converted by Autoform. It cost him upwards of $20,000 to put the autoform convertible parts on the 84 15TH....I hope you do bodywork. I went to Lincoln Tech for body & collison...there's more than just cutting a t top car involved. I've studied these cars and ASC convertibles, which look a lot better but fall short on craftmanship also.

Sounds likes it's not worth anything whole or for parts. I am going to pass on the purchase.

Re: Autoform complete kit removed value
I've had 3 autoform convertibles and also have the original brochure.
There's a lot more that goes into the convertibles than just chopping the top and bolting on a few parts. The autoform convertibles have an x-brace subframe connector under the car. The also have a brace (almost like a mini rollcage) behind the seats. There are also other modifications. Unfortunately they're right. The only real clause is to someone who already has an autoform convertible. And they're pretty rare.

I don't know the numbers for the Camaro's but I assume they were probably a little higher. As you can see, they are rare, but there were quite a few produced as far as low volume production cars go.
