Found this at pick n pull today in belton tx

91 with leather interior. It was obviously a well cared for beauty. All the leather was ruined by the rain we have had over the last 3 weeks otherwise it would have been loaded into my truck. It breaks my heart to see that someone just gave up on her.

Worse yet, why would someone leave the top down? Please when pulling parts from doner cars close the hood, top or trunk so the next guy can use the parts you don't need.

So true! I find myself closing all sorts of different cars when I go to the yard just for that reason. Almost got swarmed by wasps several times!!

I've always wondered how some cars make it into the yards, because they don't pay you more than a few hundred for the car...makes me think that they're either repos that needed a quick turnaround or estates that didn't get auctioned or something. such a shame.

Man, that fender looks to be in good shape. Same with the decklid.

I always wonder how some parts end up where they are, for instance - the arm rest in the engine compartment.

The armrest was probably used to hold the hood up at some point, or to sit on while working in the engine compartment.

Re: Found this at pick n pull today in belton tx

I drove over hour and half one way for a fender...... (yard)"Yeah, shes a great looking fender" (me) "Are you sure, Id hate to make the trip for a bad fender" (yard) " perfect condition."

And it was in great shape, until I tried to remove the bolt on the very bottom. They musta picked the car up with the front end loader w forks, cause it was smashed to all hell. I was bumbed. Its hard to find, orig nice fenders now. when you do they want too much for them. Ive tried classics fenders and they fit horrible..

Back to the yard, there was however some nice parts between the 3 3rd gens there. 2 hoods perfect cond. complete interiors. (I snagged a bunch of screws and crap) Pretty much complete cars.

Re: Found this at pick n pull today in belton tx

My82roc- I did not. By the time I saw that car, all of the convertible specific parts, beside the deck lid and the tonneau cover had already been pulled. I did remove the rear jounce/bump stops, but one of them was starting to crack when I inspected it, and so I was able to find a NOS GM set of those, so I just went that route. Are you looking for any convert parts in particular? I have some extra parts that I have acquired over the past few months as I have been getting a bunch of nos gm and clean used original GM parts to restore my '92 T/A 5 speed convert.
Third Gens--That's cool that we both saw the same car! What kind of headers did you pull off of that bad boy?

Re: Found this at pick n pull today in belton tx

RedLeader-- I think sometimes, some of the cars that we see in the junkyard wound up there (beside the obvious of the ones that are totaled in an accident) because of a mechanical problem that was expensive to repair (and they don't know how to fix it themselves or want to invest the money in the repair), or they may just see the car as an "old car", and they don't value them like we do. They might not understand that 3rd gens are now really getting to be genuine old, classic cars that are on the upswing value wise and nostalgia wise. I mean, I totally get seeing v6's there, or hardtop TBI cars there, but nowadays, you don't really see any of the higher end 3rd gen models in the yards like you used to. That's why I snapped a pic of this one, it is the first 3rd gen convertible that I have seen in over 25 junkyard visits across so. cal this year. What do you guys think?

Re: Found this at pick n pull today in belton tx

I bet before we get to the year 2020, it is going to be a rare sight to see any 3rd gens in the junkyard. Get 'em while you can!!!

Not really looking for anything specific.I have my own little stash of vert parts from all the verts I've parted out at junkyards over the past 13 years. In your picture it looks like the front seatbelt retractor unit is still there.
